"Dad passed away a while back, and Mom, a grieving widow, just wanted a fresh start. That's why we poured our hearts (and a hefty $500,000 in cash) into building our dream home with Norfleet Homes in Newberry, FL. Big mistake. The dream quickly turned into a nightmare. We waited over 2 years for the house to be built, only to find a mess of problems. The foundation looked suspect, the electrical wiring scared me, and the plumbing wasn't even finished. Mom, already stressed dealing with grief, was now overwhelmed with the thought of legal battles. That's where I stepped in. I tried everything - certified letters, emails, texts - to get Norfleet Homes to fix their shoddy work. Nothing. Their silence spoke volumes, and it wasn't a good look. This whole ordeal has been a kick in the gut for both of us. Mom deserves so much better. That's why I'm sharing our story. If you're even considering Norfleet Homes, do your research (we clearly didn't do enough). Don't make the same mistake we did. "My experience with Norfleet Construction, under the leadership of Trip Norfleet and his team, initially appeared positive and accommodating. This gave me reassurance in selecting a reputable contractor, especially as a Covid widow with school-aged children. Consequently, I decided to invest in a luxury custom site-built home with Norfleet Homes. Unfortunately, they fell short of meeting not only contractual standards but also professional and ethical standards. Following the completion of the sale with a cash payment, what was meant to be a dream home-building journey in Newberry, FL, turned into a distressing ordeal. Now, sixteen months after the construction of my home, I am faced with the unfortunate reality of having to take legal action to hold Norfleet Homes accountable for their subpar work. Despite, certified letters, emails and a host of text and calls, Norfleet Homes; has not corrected what was contractual, professional or ethinical conduct. My newly invested custom site build home, after sixteen months, is experiencing rapid settling issues (confirmed by three independent foundation specialist. To rectify the foundation problems, along with incomplete electrical wiring, irrigation, plumbing, carpentry, flooring, dysfunctional windows, and exterior hardy board lifting from the home, the estimated cost would be half of my initial investment to replace. In light of my experience, I strongly advise others to hire a home inspector prior to closing when selecting a contractor. This step can help uncover any potential issues before they escalate, providing you with peace of mind and potentially saving you from the challenges I have faced."
