New Discoveries Learning Center

Our New Discoveries Learning Center, with locations in both Utica and Rome, offers outstanding preschool education services. We collaborate closely with families to guide children through a structured routine that prepares them for Kindergarten. Our classrooms are designed to foster an understanding of the world through hands-on experiences, encouraging children to think, imagine, and solve problems. We pride ourselves on our inclusive environment, where preschoolers with identified disabilities learn alongside their typically developing peers, benefiting all children involved.

Our team comprises master’s level teachers and caregivers, all with specialized training in early childhood and special education. We provide on-site speech, occupational, and physical therapies to support children who require these interventions. Families are welcome to visit at any time, join us for lunch, or enjoy playtime with their child.

Tradewinds Education Center

The Tradewinds Education Center, approved by the New York State Education Department, serves children ages 5 to 21 diagnosed with severe behavioral and/or developmental disabilities. Our primary goal is to equip students with the skills needed to transition towards a more independent lifestyle. We emphasize a therapeutic environment to nurture social skills and communication.

Our comprehensive approach involves collaboration among education, clinical, and residential staff, along with families, to develop and implement personalized goals for each student. Our vocational program allows children to explore different careers through vocational assessments and community-based job experiences, preparing them for future employment and independent living.

Students at Tradewinds benefit from a rich curriculum that includes art, adaptive physical education, music therapy, and occupational education, along with essential services such as speech, occupational, and physical therapies, psychological services, and counseling.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include classrooms, a gymnasium, outdoor recreation areas, a library, a music room, and a cafeteria. We also celebrate special occasions with annual prom and graduation ceremonies. Our dedicated staff comprises specialists in developmental disabilities, special education teachers, aides, counselors, therapists, nurses, psychologists, and administrators, all working together to create a supportive and positive environment.
