Welcome to Bronx River House, an innovative hub for environmental learning and community engagement nestled in the heart of Starlight Park, The Bronx, New York. Located at 1490 Sheridan Boulevard, this cutting-edge facility is the headquarters of the Bronx River Alliance, dedicated to the restoration and stewardship of New York City’s only freshwater river.

Bronx River House serves as a dynamic environmental learning laboratory, offering a range of resources and activities for the community. Our facility features storage for kayaks and canoes, offices, classrooms, and meeting spaces that are shared with local residents, academics, and government officials. This collaborative environment fosters a common vision for reclaiming and revitalizing the Bronx River.

Situated between the Bronx Botanical Gardens and the Bronx Zoo, our location is perfect for nature lovers and tourists alike. The boathouse on-site provides easy access to the river for expeditions and serves as a wet classroom for hands-on learning experiences. Students and citizen scientists can engage in water-quality monitoring and ecological studies using our state-of-the-art equipment.

The nature classroom is designed to promote interactive, student-led learning, complete with high-tech audio/visual tools. Here, students can explore environmental concepts before heading out for real-world observations along the river.

As a 7,000 square foot NYC Parks facility, Bronx River House is a model of sustainability and resiliency. It houses the Bronx River Alliance program staff and Conservation Crew, providing essential resources such as office space, storage, locker rooms, and showers. This central location enables us to efficiently respond to the river's needs and expand our network of dedicated river stewards.

Join us in our mission to protect and enhance the Bronx River. We offer volunteer opportunities, such as our special Tuesday edition of "Pitch in to Pick up" from 10am-12pm, where you can help maintain the beauty and health of the river. Volunteer sessions are also available on select Mondays at the same time.
