About the Business

Dog Bone Run

Welcome to Dog Bone Run, your ultimate destination for outdoor fun and relaxation in the heart of The Bronx! Nestled at 36 West Gun Hill Road, our park offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and recreational activities for families, friends, and furry companions.

At Dog Bone Run, safety and courtesy are our top priorities. If you're planning a barbecue, please remember to keep a safe distance from other patrons, children, and trees. All coal and matches must be disposed of in designated hot coal barrels, and water should be used to extinguish hot coals. Improper disposal can cause significant harm to our cherished park, so please adhere to these guidelines.

For larger gatherings of more than 20 attendees, a permit must be obtained 30 days in advance. You can easily apply for a Special Event permit through the NYC Parks website.

While enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Van Cortlandt Park, remember that dogs must be leashed at all times unless in designated dog run areas. Van Cortlandt Park is not only home to Dog Bone Run but also hosts a variety of special events throughout the year, thanks to the efforts of the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance and other organizations.

Explore over 20 miles of hiking trails, including the Cass Gallagher Trail, John Keiran Nature Trail, John Muir Nature Trail, Old Croton Aqueduct Trail, and the Putnam Greenway, each offering unique scenic and historical experiences. Whether you're a local or a visitor, these trails provide a glimpse into the rich history and natural beauty of New York City.

For a touch of history, visit the Van Cortlandt House Museum, a testament to New York's vibrant past, open Tuesdays through Sundays.

Join us at Dog Bone Run for a day of outdoor adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable memories. We look forward to welcoming you to our park!

"Very small, there is dog poop everywhere despite signs saying pick up after ur dog. And no water fountain near by in case your pet gets thirsty."
