Located at 417 Genesee Street, Chittenango, New York, the Chittenango Fire Department has been a cornerstone of safety and service since its establishment on May 30, 1842. Proudly serving the Village of Chittenango and the Towns of Sullivan and Fenner for over 180 years, we are committed to protecting our community with dedication and professionalism.

Our History:

Founded in a village that was established in 1809, the Chittenango Fire Department has grown from humble beginnings to become a vital part of the community. Over the decades, we have adapted to meet the needs of our residents, ensuring safety and security through expert emergency response.

Our Services:

We respond to a variety of emergencies, including fires and medical emergencies. In July alone, our dedicated team attended to 119 calls—29 fire-related and 90 EMS-related. Our top responders for the month included FF Steven Meredith, LT/EMT Brian Damon, and FF/EMT Jeff Geer. We thank all our members for their unwavering dedication.

Emergency Preparedness:

The Emergency Response Guide (ERG) is an essential resource for first responders, providing guidance during hazardous materials incidents. Remember, if you're not trained to handle a material, "When in doubt, get out." Always prioritize safety.

Community Engagement:

We believe in fostering a strong sense of community, not just through our emergency services but also by organizing events like our recent Firefighter Family Picnic. It's a time for our members and their families to relax, enjoy great food, and partake in friendly competitions like our corn hole tournament.

Safety Tips:

In case of severe weather, such as tropical downpours or thunderstorms, always remember: ⚠️ TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN! ⚠️ Flooded roads are extremely dangerous, and it is crucial to be prepared, especially in low-lying flood-prone areas. Ensure your sump pump is functioning correctly to mitigate potential flooding.
