"I have never worked with a more organized, skilled, and responsive contractor than Alan. The project involved a full gut and remodel of our basement, as well as a remodel of our first-floor half-bath. We could not be more pleased with how everything turned out, including the new plumbing, electrical wiring, and insulation. These are just a few of the things that set Rebel Construction apart from many others. Clear and detailed estimates: When obtaining quotes, we received many that were concerningly short and vague. Alan is very thorough and uses software that justifies the labor and materials costs using very reasonable cost assumptions. For example, we were able to find quality tiles, flooring, and bathroom fixtures within his estimated costs without issue. As a result, there was no sticker shock or large and unexpected increases when work started. We got Benjamin Moore Regal Select paint, high quality electrical receptacles, great vanity mirrors, and a bunch of additional nice finishings all within the estimate. Neatness/Cleanliness: We ended up with a minimal amount of dust and dirt, which is no small accomplishment considering the amount of demolition, sanding, sawing, drilling, and painting that took place here. When working in our kitchen, he took a considerable amount of time covering everything, and it was as clean when he left as before he started. Willingness to make adjustments: As work progressed, we noticed some additional issues. The framing behind drywall didn't look great, the floors had very ugly and difficult-to-remove tiles underneath carpets, and we changed our minds and decided to replace all water pipes. As long as the tasks were not going to drive job completion time far beyond what was on the estimate, Alan was happy to make all of these changes. Within hours, we always had change orders and knew exactly what our changes would cost. Competitive pricing: We weren't simply looking for the cheapest company. We were looking for the company that gave us the best value, and company reputation was a major consideration. Alan won in this regard. Small team, so little noise/disruptions: Alan does most of the work himself, which is great. He often has his father with him, who is also a very pleasant man. It's good to be able to speak directly to the boss and agree on changes on the spot. You know the quality of the work won't vary based on which team the company decides to send to your home. Help with the insurance company: Part (though not most) of our job was covered by an insurance claim for water damage. Alan is the sort of person you want to help with preparing new estimates and paperwork for an insurance claim, as well as for any supplements that go beyond the original estimate. I could say more, but I think this is more than enough. We enjoyed having him around. My wife was busy most of the time, but she would have occasional conversations with Alan about our families. The basement is now perfect for our visiting relatives. They'll be more comfortable than we are upstairs. FYI: The photo of an unpainted room is a room where Alan isolated our drain lines and shutoff valves. Leaking old pipes were a major problem for us. Now they're all replaced and hidden away in a tiny closet."
