"My wife had a dulcimer in need of repair and alterations. Mr. MacBlane was friendly, attentive and described fully what he planned on doing. His shop at the rear of his home was fascinating with the extensive tools and the various guitars, violins, mandolins and banjos hanging up through the space. Originally he said it might take a few months with all his other work, however he called in 3 weeks stating he had completed the job. He described the task as a challenge and showed us pictures he took of the process and was clearly pleased and proud of the work he had done. The nearly 2 and a half hour drive from our home in Schenectady County was so worth it. We would highly recommend MacBlane String Instruments for anyone in need of a repair and the price was very reasonable"
"I recently left my 1976 Takamine 12 string with Bob thinking my guitar needed his "expertise" to improve the sound on my guitar. When I arrived from Burlington, Vermont at his repair shop I received a pleasant surprise. Bob said the frets were fine and so forth What I needed was a different style capo. Needless to say in this day & age, his honesty came shining through! I would recommend him highly since he has the skills & tools of the trade and the added benefit of his honest way of doing business. One cannot ask any more than that! :-)"
"Absolutely the best guitar and stringed instrument repair in the CNY area. I drive down from Syracuse to get my stuff worked on. I've had 5 different guitars worked on, including pickup installation, refretting, basic setup, new nuts and saddles, and wood bracing repair. Every repair was perfect, and the price is worth the drive. Just don't try to get any work done during summer break - he is busy repairing all of the Syracuse school instruments."
