"Went here in attempt to get my marriage license and was not a good experience. On their website and the marriage license worksheet it states that appointments are preferred. When we showed up their the lady said it was appointment only. I had stated that the sheet did not say that and she said "well that has changed" and I said neither the sheet or website states its appointment only. She would not do it for us. When trying to schedule an appointment she said they do appointments from 9am-3pm everyday, we asked for a 12pm appointment and she said "oh we don't do them during lunch" okay so why would you tell us 9am-3pm? then I said when is lunch she said anywhere between 11:30am-1pm. So I asked if we could do an 11am and she stated "no that's too close to lunch time and I have to get my grandkids sometimes." She kept saying we have plenty of time since we are a month out. We can get it whenever we want who is she to determine our timeframe? So unprofessional, rude, and unhelpful. We will never go back there, and made an appointment at another town hall. Do not go here if you are looking to receive actual service because they don't provide any."

"I went here to obtain a marriage license with my fiancé. One would expect this to be at least a neutral experience if not an exciting one. Neither of us have been married before so it was a new experience that we had not gone through. So we were working off of what we had been told we needed for the state license that should be the same across the state (based on what I was told upon calling around to do my research and what you would expect). We were almost immediately met with a bad attitude from the clerk. She was rude and curt and acted like we were doing her an incredible disservice by not knowing exactly how this was supposed to work and asking her to answer questions that one would expect to be in line with the job she was hired to do and is getting paid for. She really soured the whole experience and while my fiancé and I both maintained professional attitudes (although I now wish I hadn't) the clerk did not. While these points to follow aren't pertaining to the attitude she gave us, there were some general incongruencies in what she told us and what seemed to actually be the case. She told us we NEEDED an appointment even though the form said "preferred" and that we were wrong. These seemed like an additional attempt at a "power" flex on her part. While I understand the preferences vary by municipality, there was no reason to act the way she did. We will happily go elsewhere so as not to "inconvenience" this civil servant from doing her job. I hope no one has the absolute displeasure of working with her in the future."

"The Manlius Town Hall hosts many town government offices including the Town Clerk, the Town Receiver of Taxes, the Parks and Recreation Department, the Town Court, the Town Council (legislative body) and Town Supervisor's Office (similar to mayor). I have had experience with all except the Town Court. Marriage license from Town Clerk. Dog License from Town Clerk. Fixed a tax error with the Receiver. Signed up for volleyball at Parks & Rec. Went to a Town Council meeting which where the presiding officer is the Town Supervisor. All those were good (or at least neutral) experiences."
