"So I go to visit Cortland Free Library the other day and this is what I see???? When did a place that used to be beautiful and fun become a homeless encampment and a place to use your drugs??? This is absolutely disgusting!!!! What is our city or better yet the the owners of the not for profit organization that runs it going to do about this? Our children can't go there safely anymore!! I wouldn't send my teen there to study again that's for sure, this town should truly be ashamed of themselves! Urine on the walls and floors, food and garbage everywhere, dirty/smelling clothing all over, vulgar nasty things written on tables and walls, paraphernalia on tables and shelves (not pictured due to sensitive people) cmon Cortland we need to do better and hold those whom are allowing this responsible!"

"I used to love going to the library, but lately it’s been awful. Men are allowed to sleep on the couch and chairs near the young adult section, which I don’t feel is safe for the young teenagers who browse there. It frequently smells of marijuana in there, and there are sharps disposals in the public bathrooms- including the children’s bathrooms. There seems to be no concern for the safety of the children who attend the library. I’ve been visiting the library since I was two years old, but I don’t feel comfortable visiting there anymore."

"We love the childrens department, especially miss Tammy and miss Jamie who make reading and learning so much fun! They greet all the kids by name and take a personal interest in each one that the kids just love! Miss Tammy’s story time is the best:)"
