"Waste of a visit, took the day off from work and traveled 1 and half hours there expecting a nice time. Beach was covered in trash during my latest visit to the beach. Parking needs to be re-done. There was a lot of young people in the parking lot smoking near the entrance, I had to find another entrance because my child has asthma. One of them approached me on the beach and identified himself as "Colin" he scared my son and we ended up having to leave. One of the best beaches turned into the trashiest and it was a horrible experience. I hope whoever is in charge of the beach can please make it children friendly and have more access with people with disabilities. Hoping to come back in a few years with a more positive experience."

"Definitely one of my favorite beach spot in the area. It's not too big - not too small with necessary ammenties like vending and restroom facilities in the parking area. During peak days - the parking lot can fill up quickly which is the only downside."

"It was a beautiful beach! Great parking lot, very full on labor day as expected! The beach was clean and beautiful and you really can't ask for more for a day at the beach!"

"I've only gone to Mecox Beach in the off-season, so there have never been any crowds (or fees) when I go there in the morning. It's a very spacious beach, so I can't imagine it ever being difficult to get a good spot even when there are more people there. The sand is fine and the beach has always been clean when I've gone there. The biggest plus for me is that dogs are allowed on the beach. Bags are provided at the entrance, so you can use them to clean up after your dog. I recommend stocking up on lots of bags since there's something about the ocean air that seems to loosen their bowels thoroughly. I'm not sure if dogs are allowed on the entire beach during the summer, but I haven't seen any signs saying that they're not. This will certainly continue to be my go-to beach with my dog. I believe permits are required from 9:00 am through 9:00 pm, starting July 1 until Labor Day, but you might be able to get a day pass at the entrance when you go. I'll post an update if I see info that states otherwise."
