About the Business

Pier Beach

Welcome to Pier Beach, a serene deep-water swimming destination nestled in the picturesque town of Mayville, New York. Located at 1 Miller Park, Pier Beach offers a refreshing escape along the scenic waterfront of Chautauqua Lake.

While our beaches are currently closed, we eagerly anticipate reopening on June 21, 2025, weather, staffing, and water conditions permitting. Until then, enjoy year-round swimming at the nearby Turner Community Center, where Chautauqua Health & Fitness members can access the 25-yard indoor pool free of charge. Non-members can purchase separate pool memberships or passes.

At Pier Beach, safety is our priority. A lifeguard must be present for swimming, and children under 14 must pass a deep-water swim test administered by our on-duty lifeguard to enjoy the waters. Adjacent to Pier Beach, the Children’s Beach offers a shallow, sandy area perfect for families with young children. Please ensure that children under 12 are supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

For those seeking leisure beyond swimming, the Heinz Waterfront, located on South Lake Drive, is ideal for sunbathing and fishing. Rent fishing poles and purchase nightcrawlers at the Sports Club near the Athenaeum Hotel.

Join us at Pier Beach and embrace the tranquil beauty of Chautauqua Lake. Stay updated on seasonal offerings by toggling between Summer and Fall/Winter/Spring content on our website. We look forward to welcoming you for a memorable lakeside experience.

"While it's a great spot, alas it's closed for the 2021 season, owing to a lifeguard shortage."
