"Rented a Jeep Cherokee in Newark, had roughly 4K miles on it. Leaving NYC this morning, it struggled to go into drive. Drove to Long Island, found this… Avis in Medford. They seem to go out of their way to not help… ZERO assistance. Currently a Wizard and Enterprise member, this solidified my choices in the future. I spoke to Avis on the phone, they stated walk in and explain to them that given the engine trouble, you can just swap it out…. NOT ACCORDING TO YOUR MEDFORD, NY office. AVOID AT ALL CAST."
"My experience with Avis Car Rental in Medford, New York, was nothing short of a nightmare. When we picked up the car, we were shocked to find bread and four huge bullet shells in the trunk. This immediately raised concerns about the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle. Upon discovering these alarming items, we promptly called Avis customer service to report the issue. To our dismay, the representatives seemed utterly clueless about how to handle such a situation. They continuously transferred us from one person to another, leaving us frustrated and worried about the potential dangers we could be facing. Eventually, we decided to take matters into our own hands and called the police. They arrived promptly, made a report, and opened an investigation into the matter. Unfortunately, this process took an excruciatingly long time, causing us to miss our planned trip to cross the Canadian border and our hotel reservation. The incident left us exhausted, and we simply didn't have the energy to do what we had eagerly planned for the next day. Adding insult to injury, despite returning the car with 12.6 gallons of gas (more than double the amount it had when we picked it up with just 5 gallons), Avis refused to reimburse us for the difference. This was a frustrating and disappointing end to an already disastrous experience with their service. I cannot stress enough how disappointed and dissatisfied I am with Avis Car Rental in Medford, New York. Their lack of professionalism and inability to handle such a serious situation is utterly unacceptable. I sincerely hope they take our feedback seriously and improve their customer service and vehicle inspection protocols to prevent such incidents from happening to others in the future. Based on my experience, I would not recommend renting from this Avis location, and I strongly advise travelers to explore other rental options in the area."
"Scam artists that steal money. Returned the car completely full, paid $85 in gas to fill up their car. Lady checked over the car, checked gas and mileage, no extra charges. A week later a random $57 charge shows up for a gas charge. No explanation and their customer service has no idea. Have to fight it with the credit card. Not helpful whatsoever."
"My father worked for Avis for thirty-five years so it hurts me to say this, but this was the worst experience ever. When did "We Try Harder" go out the window? The car was absolutely filthy and had a bad shake to it. If I wasn't so busy running around I absolutely would have swapped it for a different car."
