"After my dad passed away recently, my mom reached out to Westchester Mobility about selling her accessible vehicle. My dad used a wheelchair and my mom no longer needed the car. Westchester Mobility had great reviews online so we spoke with Darren. The experience was the LEAST professional interaction I’ve ever experienced. The first thing Darren did was to ask my mom how much she owed on her vehicle, which I found to be a very dishonest tactic. That amount has no effect on the fair value of the car, but we were willing to look past that. He came back with an offer that we felt was a bit low but not wholly unfair. We tried to negotiate a bit and instead of explaining his position or negotiating in good faith, he accused us lying when we said we hadn’t spoken to any other dealers. Darren said he would ask his boss if he could go up at all and he’d get back to us. He never reached out. While that experience left a bad taste in our mouths, we decided to call back a few days later and see if the original offer would still work, just for the ease of a quick sale. Before even speaking a word, Darren laughed at my mom when she said she’d be willing to take the offer. He laughed at a grieving woman trying to sell a car that she needed for her husband who died unexpectedly. He could have offered us double what we wanted and we wouldn’t have taken it at that point. I don’t know how anyone can think this behavior is acceptable. I understand that this is a business transaction and they have profit margins to meet, but acting like a decent person costs nothing. Nobody is buying or selling an accessible car because they want to. These cars are necessities for disabled people and their families. I’d guess most people selling these cars are doing it because the person who needed the car has died. For a business serving people in need, your think they’d show even a hint of compassion. Darren should be ashamed of himself. Think twice before doing business with these con artists. Seriously, go anywhere else unless you like being insulted and belittled."
