Waypoint Restaurant

"From driving by you might not turn down towards Waypoint unless you know what awaits. It’s right on the water and seems popular for dock and dine as well as driving. The staff was super friendly, the bar staff fun and engaging, and very fresh sea food. Try the Negroni , it’s wonderful. The swordfish was sourced through Brauns, one of the best fishmongers in the area, the oysters fresh and tasty. The Saturday eve we were there was one amazing and crazy thunderstorm which the staff handled with ease- moving outdoor diners inside (thankfully it was already after 8pm so they had some room). While the inside became very loud, it was understandable due to the need to close the windows. Enjoy!"

"HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED We had an AWFUL experience here. It’s expensive (which was fine) but not of value. When the check came, we gave 2 credit cards to split the bill with our friends. ONE credit card didn’t come back. The waitress wasn’t around after 10 minutes (it was very busy) so we asked for help from another server. He got the waitress who was mortified and she went to look for the card. Our group of 4, we traced the path and looked around as well. After 15 more minutes , she let us know she was still looking (alone). The manager was strolling about-NEVER came over/looked for the card. After another 10 minutes, I approached him and he said “this happens all the time. I just found a card. I’ll check it and let you know”. 15 more minutes later, he was still strolling about and i asked him the status. He said it was someone else’s card and told me not to worry. I explained I was worried and he walked away. No apology, no assistance -just an abrupt departure. We got up to leave. Our friends approached the owner (they’re regulars) and suddenly the manager came over (it’s his father) and talked to us. He said he would call us (but didn’t have our contact info). I explained we leave hours away and returning was challenging. He said that wasn’t his problem. We called the credit card company and paid to have another card expedited. The next day the restaurant left a message saying they had the card and we had to pick it up. A nearly $600 dinner for 4 (3 drinks and 2 desserts, 3 apps and 3 entrees) was nice but when plates are handed across the table and there’s no utensils I don’t see value in the experience. There is a nice view but I highly suggest finding another restaurant to have a meal and enjoy it."

"What a beautiful restaurant, great food , great service, and the view was incredible, Frank the bar manager great guy , great recommendations, but our bartender Claire was absolutely wonderful, drinks and food recommendations were spot on , she’s the reason why we will always stop in while passing through Southold, a GEM"

"Everything about Waypoint was amazing. The waitress went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The food was fresh and came out quick. The scenery is unbeatable. Love watching the boats docking right at restaurant. I love the live music. I am returning next week!"
