Their mission is to elevate the general health of minority communities through community involvement and participatory strategies that promote healthier lifestyles.
MHC, in collaboration with its Community Advisory Board known as H.E.L.P (Healing, Educating, & Loving People), offers a range of free health services. These include counseling and testing for HIV, Gonorrhea, and Chlamydia. They emphasize the importance of knowing one's health status with the campaign slogan "GET TESTED...Save a life, even if it means your own #KnowYourStatus."
Appointments for testing services, including Syphilis, Hepatitis C, and STI & HIV Combo tests, are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, as well as Saturdays. Additionally, MHC hosts Vaccine Nights, providing COVID-19, Mpox, Flu, and Meningitis vaccinations.
MHC is staffed with certified HIV/STI Test Counselors and Service Navigators, ensuring professional and compassionate care for all clients. They operate in Richmond and the Crater Health District, offering free HIV testing at various locations and accepting walk-ins at their office from Monday to Friday, 10 am to 5 pm. This space also provides prep and pep (if you believe you were exposed to HIV). Everything can be done online, parking is easy and service is fast."
"I'm loving how easy they make it to get yourself tested! With the extended evening hours on Wednesdays they are able to meet anyone's schedule The only thing I can complain about is the probing questionaire. it's a little redundant and slightly too long but overall it's a pretty fast and enjoyable experience."
