"(Update on this review: (11/27/23) We called AmeriGas and they had our propane delivered within 5 days, no questions asked they wanted to come sooner but we were out of town. I ended up purchasing my fuel oil for 3 seperate houses through E&B Oil Co. They delivered within 2 days and the fuel was cheaper. I can't believe I ever wasted my time and money with the 21st century Energy Group. A disgrace to the Reed Oil name.) I thought my terrible experience with Reed Oil was unique until I read the reviews. This is what happens when a larger company buys a smaller reputable company and uses their name. I have been using the Reed Oil name for over 30 years and so has my personal friends and family. My girlfriend recently purchased a mobile home and had been fixing it up over the summer. She stays there occasionally with her children when she's not staying with me. If things work out we were eventually going to sell or rent the trailer. Seeing that she has bad credit I called to have propane delivered in my name because we knew they did a credit check. I spoke with this insufferable woman named Nadine who is in charge of credit checks. She immediately started to interrogate me and insinuated that I was up to something nefarious because I used the word "We". She made me very nervous and accused me of lying very early in the conversation. She demanded that I give the names of everybody who potentially might be staying at the residency. I know my credit score is at or above 800 and I've never defaulted on anything in the past so I couldn't figure out why this phone conversation seemed to be a police interrogation. I'm just trying to buy propane services from a company that is supplied me and my family with fuel since the 70s. She never contacted me back on the day that she said so I called and left a message. She called me first thing the next morning with the same nasty condescending attitude to inform me that they would not supply me with propane because "My story didn't add up". I tried to explain to her that my credit is perfect and I'm just trying to get heat in a home where children stay. I also explained to her that my girlfriend is eligible for energy assistance and if it was possible that I would go on as a cosigner so she could get the tanks. Nadine put me on hold to talk to a manager and told me they were denying me services. She then put me on the phone with the manager who told me that he recently just started working there. He said that he came from a larger company and he has never seen or heard of policies so strict before. Even the manager agrees... Also while I had them on the phone I was going to order 1000 gallons of fuel for my house and another house I take care of but I have now canceled that order. Read the reviews, folks. This company takes advantage of people who need life sustaining resources and treat you like a criminal for just trying to legitimately use their services. It's sad what they have done to such a reputable name."
