"We visited the small town of Granger, pop. 90. The Stage Station was nice. Needs some upkeep. Town is struggling. There are some wonderful people there however. Good experience."
"The signs were poor at best, and actually took us a longer route with the road broken up more than the more direct route. The station is locked, the fenced area falling down. If you can see the picture of it, you have ready captured 90% of what is there."
"The interior, viewed from the cloudy windows, was empty of anything but a dusty table, and the exterior signage, while still legible, doesn't offer much context beyond its use as a stage stop and Pony Express station. Despite the neglect, it remains faintly evocative of a time when austere frontier outposts like this were crucial for providing access to the vast spaces and contested opportunities of the American West. Mark Twain & Horace Greeley were just two of the many travelers that once visited."
"This place is not for everyone but it's the crossroads of the west. Trails California, Oregon , Mormon, rendezvous, railroad , stagecoach , pony express. Also the US vrs the Mormons was also a staged here. ( No shots were fired). It has a tremendous amount of history for a small community that has been forgotten and passed by."
"Drove over an hour to visit this place only to find it was locked up tight (at 1115 on a Wednesday morning, 23 Sept) and no sight of anyone around. I only went up because on the wyoparks website indicated that it was open and that there were rangers on site to show the station's interior etc. Very disappointing. I stopped at the "Granger Outpost" store across the street, and the nice lady there said that it had been open earlier in the day but she had no idea why it was now closed. Granger WY itself really is nearly a ghost town. About 100 people live there, but a lot of empty, abandoned trailers and houses. Nothing in town at all other than that little store."
