Silver Sage Cafe and Gas Station

"The owner greeted us in a friendly manner when we walked in. Shortly after, a young boy came in and ran into the restroom. The owner laughed it off to calm the mother, who seemed embarrassed. He was genuinely a friendly and welcoming man. We loved the shop. Very cute and welcoming with an old movie playing on the television. We got a sarsaparilla!"

"I do not usually write negative reviews, but this was a terrible experience for our family. Our young daughter needed to use the restroom as we were passing through Vernon. So we decided to pull over and stop at the Silver Sage. BIG MISTAKE. We noticed a sign on the door that said a purchase is required to use the restroom. We respect that, so my husband grabbed his wallet before we walked in with the kids. I also had some garbage from earlier in our car ride that I wanted to throw away while we were there. Immediately when we walked in, the man behind the counter barked at me that I was not allowed to bring in outside garbage. Confused, I looked around. He barked at me again, saying it was against the health code to bring garbage in. I apologized and walked back out to our van with the little sack of garbage. Meanwhile, the man asked my husband if he had read the sign about bathroom use. My husband replied yes and that we were planning to buy something. As my husband & kids walked down the little hall toward the restrooms, the man then rudely told the kids they were in the way and to “shove over”?? My husband immediately grabbed the kids & left. My daughter was crying because she didn’t want to get back in the van… knowing she was probably going to pee her pants. As we were getting the kids buckled, the man came out to the parking lot & stared us down as he walked by our car. Please, please avoid taking your family here. Unfortunately, we are not the only ones who have had a similar experience."

"Brian wears many hats running this place. He does the best he can. He makes a pretty mean burger. They seem to hit a little differently for the better out there. The selection of Root Beers and Cream Sodas and Ginger Ales and Sarsaparillas are second to none. He's got all the food and supplies you need to get by if you're in the area camping or fishing. Big deal if you have to buy something to use the bathroom. Who couldn't use a drink or snack for the road? So what if gasoline costs over $7 a gallon. He's only got one pump and you're in the middle of nowhere. Highly recommend stopping if you're in the area."

"The owner is such a nice guy! The food was great as well! Just because the owner ask politely to support his business and not free load with the restroom shouldn't scare you away at all. He's just trying to make a living same as the rest of us. These other reviews shouldn't scare you away at all! I had a very pleasant experience and will be back!"

"Awesome little place, most of the time when you go to a small town and there is only one place they charge a ton. This place honestly isn’t to far off of normal burgers joins in large town and for many they are better priced. The lady that works there is quick to serve and even after going from one customers 15ish in just moments she didn’t skip a beat and got every served and taken care of"
