My Place Hotel-West Valley City, UT

"I was nervous booking a hotel in West Valley, particularly one as cheap as I booked it for. I bought my husband tickets to Jeff Dunham and decided to book a hotel as well to make a night of it. When we arrived, they indicated that our single bed room had been switched to a 2 queen due to selling out for the show. Not a big deal, but still not getting what I booked and one of the reasons for a 4 star. We made our way to the third floor to drop off our stuff in our room and when we walked in, the room was super warm and smelled pretty musty, like it hadn't been used in a while, or the previous residents marinated without a shower. They should air out rooms or figure out a way to freshen it up before new residents arrive (another reason for 4☆). NOW with the negative comments out of the way, this Hotel was surprisingly nice!! Aside from the musty smell that cleared out with the air turned on, it was very clean with REALLY nice esthetics. The room had a functional kitchen with a 2 top stove, sink and fridge and freezer that makes ice. The closet area had a laundry basket, lots of hangers and a pull down ironing board and iron. The bathroom was fully stocked and actually really nice. The tub and shower were standard size for one person, but it's updated and nice. The blow dryer wasn't even attached to the wall!! There were plenty of towels in different sizes and travel size soap, shampoo AND conditioner! "

"No where is it indicated that there is a deposit needed at check-in. I was told by David after we had paid for our roo. That there was a $100 deposit on a card or $200 cash. The lady who I'm guessing was a manager was rude about it and said it was an individual hotel policy and was more concerned about how the desk clerk was instead of the customer. As I am writing this at the front desk the desk clerk just informed the manager not myself that the type of room I had reserved is not available. Not a word said to me yet......I had to ask the bell clerk what type of room and he very unwilling told me that now it is the same type. We will see what happens, but I know I will never stay here or any of this brand of hotel thanks to this experience."

"Was safe lol. Slept well. Had an incident were they needed to check smoke detectors and my door lock was applied. Thank god because they tried to get inside my room without consent. I yelled in the hallway I was so pissed. Also there toilets or the toilet in my room didn’t have the best suction. I’m not a dinosaur. Otherwise great price decent room thank you."

"We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay here. The staff was friendly, welcoming and professional. The room was nice, clean and the bedding was very comfy. I could not find any fault with it. We brought our two dogs. Walking them around the building, we found a dog poop bag station. Very helpful if yours are up in your room. I would definitely stay here again! P.S. After our stay, I noticed on their website, you can have breakfast delivered to your room for a nominal amount. Staff should have offered this amenity during check in. Maybe there is a good reason why they didn't so I'm not going to ding them for it."

"ABSOLUTELY WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!! Booked for 3 nights after never staying here before. When you first walk into the lobby it smells like warm, old, floor cleaner. As I would soon find our, that was a pleasant smell to what my room smelled like. Which was a mix of unknown and mildew. No way this is healthy. As soon as I walked into my room, behold no lights! I quickly determined the breaker had tripped. I rest it and 30 minutes later it blew again. I went down to the lobby to tell the girl and she basically said, yeah there's a problem we know about, but nothing we can do for you. We don't refund and we're completely booked. I'll have a Manager reach out. That never happened. Two more nights went by same problem, by the third night, I had ENOUGH! Went back down to the front desk and was encountered by the rudest worker I have met in a long time. I explained the situation and SHE GOT HOSTILE WITH ME OVER IT!!! Can you believe that? I even mentioned the smell in my room and she implied I caused it. She even questioned me complaining the first night saying I didn't because she was there. She stated she would talk to her Mgr and call my room, I told her that I was leaving my room for a couple of hours because the power was out and it kept going out every 15 min! She stated she'd call my phone and never did. To sum it up the hotel smells god awful. The power goes out constantly. The service was TERRIBLE! The manager is non-existent (however, I bet they respond to this). I guarantee their priority is more about responding to reviews vs taking care of their patrons. I HATE THIS HOTEL WITH A PASSION!"
