About the Business

Utah Lake State Park

Utah Lake State Park, located at 4400 West Center Street in Provo, Utah, is a popular tourist attraction and park. It is known as Utah's largest freshwater lake, covering roughly 148 square miles. The park offers a variety of recreational activities such as fishing for various species of fish, swimming, boating, and paddleboarding. The RV campground has 31 sites with water and power hookups available.

Special Use Permits are required for commercial activities within the park, including races, tournaments, and professional photography. Drones are not allowed in the park due to its proximity to the Provo Airport.

Slips for boat rentals are available for prior year renters starting on February 1, with remaining slips open for first-come, first-serve rentals on March 1. The rental slip season runs from April 1 to October 31, with prices ranging from $650 to $950 based on size.

It is important to have all required paperwork on hand before renting a slip, including a filled out slip lease agreement, current registration and insurance, AIS certification, vessel safety inspection, and proof of a current Parks Pass. Refunds are not offered for weather conditions, bugs, early departures, or time spent in the park.

For more information, visitors can check current conditions and webcam, make camping reservations, or contact the concessionaire services. Self-certification and displaying a quagga form is required before launching a vessel, and proper cleaning, draining, and drying procedures must be followed to prevent the spread of invasive species. Additional information can be found at STDoftheSea.com.

"Nice park, went to see the Vermillion Flycatcher that was sighted in the area. Quite unusual for it to be this far north, especially in November so it was a treat for birders to see."

"This park was so quiet and peaceful. The lake gave us amazing fish to cook up and chow. Loved it here. Oh and a wonderful little bird called a Vermillion Flycatcher happen to make camp as well which drew plenty of birders for this special guy."

"Don’t waste your time or money here. It smells like something rotting. It’s a quiet and serene location, but as soon as the sun started to set, millions (yes I mean millions) of mosquitoes came up in swarms! We couldn’t even be outside at all! The next morning they were covering absolutely everything. So glad to get out of there!"

"BEAUTIFUL AREA!! But way too expensive for only an hour of fun. We were charged a $20 fee when all we wanted to do was take pictures. We didn’t fish. We didn’t hike. We didn’t boat. We didn’t swim. I think it’s kind of ridiculous that the majestic creations of Mother Nature have been monopolized to the general public. The fees could definitely use some kind of a revamp. But once inside, you’ll have plenty of things to do and there is lots of space to do it in. The view is incredible!! And the beachy areas are pretty nice. The water unfortunately, was pretty murky and smelly, and the bugs were plentiful. ✨If you spend a whole day there, it would be worth the cost!✨"

"This place is definitely not for swimming :) The swimming beach is pretty bad, small, dirty. Water does not look attractive too and the killer on the party is Tons of Mosquitoes! They are crazy! You have to pay 20$ entrance fee per car and there are “no returns because of bugs or weather”. The only positive thing I would say about park - it is probably good to launch and swim on boat. I saw many people with boats there, but DON’T go for swimming there. We went there on July 10, 2023"
