"They rebuilt a transmission charge me the same amount of money took car somewhere else remove the tires check some things out did not replace the tires tightly one tire fell off as I left the driveway damaged axle breaks and body of vehicle 1964 Ford falcon collector's item. Will not admit to doing anything would not warranty their work and fix anything that was damaged I highly recommend not trusting your vehicle there."

"Good work and as honest as you can get! I took my jeep here because the transmission was slipping bad! I dropped it off expecting to have to pay a good chunk of money for a new transmission. Come to find out I had an electrical issue that was keeping the trans from working properly. They could have very easily said i needed a transmission rebuild like I was expecting and charged a significant amount more, they didn’t and told me exactly what it was! I will always be bringing my vehicles back to Gears and would recommend them to everyone!"

"I have a 1970 Chevelle Malibu with a 502 BB chevy crate motor, TCI built TH-400 trans,12 bolt diff, Eaton posi, Hotchkis susp. etc. I took the car to Gears Automotive for a 5 speed TKX installation in February '22. I bought the TKX trans and installation kit from Silver Sport Transmission in TN which was recommended by Mike McCoy at Gears. I also asked Mike to change my leaking rear main oil seal and provided a new one (FelPro) for him. My review is late because I only drive the car 350-400 miles a year, mostly to car shows in the summer months, and some problems didn't become apparent until later. I picked the car up from Gears on 3-11-22. I noticed the shift stick wasn't bolted on tightly--my hand hit the dashboard when shifting into 1st & 3rd. Also the clutch pedal wasn't right. It didn't come up when released and had no free play. I put the car up on blocks and found the clutch linkage badly installed, missing parts and the parking brake cable was rubbing on the driveline (not good). I ordered a complete linkage kit, fixed the main bracket, greased the Z bar (had no grease) and installed the missing washers and springs. I also replaced Gears mickey mouse brackets on the speedometer cable (tie wire) and parking brake cable (plumber's tape) and tightened the shifter bolts. Now it shifts much better. When driving 50-60 mph I noticed a serious vibration in the drivetrain. I took the car to Gaylon's Driveline in Lehi and the shop foreman John saw the problem right away. The back of the trans at the rear mount was jammed up against the floorboard. I drove home and removed two 1/4" shims from the mount. Beavis and butthead are batting a thousand. Driving home from the first car show the following Spring I heard a low growling noise from the floorboard area and it wasn't the throw out bearing. As much as I hated to, I pulled the trans- mission to find what was making the noise. Because of the mickey mouse work I had seen so far from Gears, I decided to check everything as I took it apart. Guess what! The trans to bellhousing bolts were NOT TORQUED!!! I put a torque wrench set at 15 lb/ft on the first bolt and IT TURNED BEFORE THE WRENCH CLICKED!!! Beavis and Butthead are back! The other bolts were the same. Not only that, they were UNGRADED bolts. They must have lost the graded ones that came with the kit. Kinda worried now! What about the clutch and flywheel bolts?? I pulled the bellhousing and the bolts were torqued, whew! The pressure plate, clutch disc & all inside the bellhousing were covered in a thick greasy oil. Mike must not have changed the rear main oil seal as I asked. Nope, still dripping. The installation kit instructions, which I gave a copy of to Mike, state that the stock pilot bushing must be changed to a pilot bearing included in the kit. Nope, they didn't do that either. Maybe the pilot bearing is with the missing trans bolts, clutch linkage parts and oil seal. When I checked the bellhousing runout, also required in the inst- ructions, it needed adjustment but the original alignment dowels were still in place so evidently they didn't do that either. I ordered new offset dowel pins and set it up correctly. Youtube has many good videos on this. After cleaning the oily parts (7 cans of Brakleen), I reinstalled everything with a new rear main oil seal and pilot bearing. Drives much better now! Lots of work but worth it. My regret is ever taking my car to Gears. Sloppy, mickey mouse and downright dangerous work. Mike G"

"This company is the perfect example of what customer service used to be: Helpful, honest, useful, and caring. It's very rare to find a company who cares about it's customers like this, but that's all the more reason to celebrate when you find one. If you need transmission expertise and work, stop looking. This is it!"
