"I had multiple policies both commercial and personal with this agency for a handful of years. I went to them being confident they would take care of our insurance needs since we needed multiple carriers under one broker to best facilitate things. My biggest mistake was choosing Dixie Leavitt Insurance without doing more research. As expected, everything started out nice, but then it was just problem after problem. There are too many unqualified and not enough qualified staff to handle their clients professionally and see to their needs. Between their front desk receptionists and staff not being there—either because they are too busy or only work part time—it is a major chore to get ahold of someone in a timely manner most of the time. Once you do get ahold of someone, it can be hard to get them to pay attention to the details of coverage for each policy. In our case, even after meeting in person with 3 of them together on several different occasions, much of our insurance was still not issued properly: addresses were wrong, properties were mixed up with other properties or missed altogether, coverage amounts were wrong. After dealing with all that, we come to the realization that we are being charged double premium on a new vehicle of what a comparable company quoted and put thru underwriting to verify. Then we discover that our other personal autos (older vehicles with liability only policies) were quadruple the premium through Dixie Leavitt versus a comparable policy through another broker. Our business general liability insurance increased several thousand dollars each year for the last several years despite the fact that we were retiring and reduced the size of our business during that time—with no more employees and very little work. I’ve wasted so much money with this agency. My wife and I are both sick to our stomachs that premium markups this high were even possible, especially from people you had respected and trusted. From what I understand, insurance commission is generally anywhere from 3% to 25% depending on the type of insurance. That is business and people are in business to make money. I respect that. What I don’t understand is how policies can be 200-400 percent more on personal auto and property and even more than that on commercial liability insurance. In summary, this agency seems nice from the outside, but there are vultures on the inside. I’ve learned my lesson to never do business with them again. I’m glad we are finally able to part ways and I can go with a much better company."

"Very positive experience. Friendly , knowledgeable, efficient agent. She worked hard to evaluate my needs in an insurance policy and match those needs to varying companies’ policies. She narrowed it to two companies that served me best and emailed a comparison sheet showing similarities and differences between the two including cost and how often to pay premiums. It was easy to make an informed decision and she was on the phone with me to answer questions as I read through it. She is a busy person but told me times when we could talk . I appreciated that as well. No being on hold forever. Call her and if she does not answer, main secretary does who finds out when she will be able to talk. Dixie Leavitt Insurance is still listed as Dixie when you look on the internet, but they answer the phone as Leavitt Insurance now because Dixie is offensive to some."
