"They lie about being 4 weeks of school. It 5-6 weeks or longer of school. That's if they pick you for the first round. Then you have to wait a whole week to see if they pick you to start driving. They don't teach you to drive or go over anything in the driving yard. People sit around and do nothing. There are three instructors there, but they spend most of their time in the office trailer yelling at people out driving on the range. I wish we didn't go through them."
"There's too much to say here about my experience with 160. We had a good time learning what was important for the test and getting ourselves out there into the world. Using the principles that 160 taught me while working hard and making friends I did very well on my state test. Taking that work ethic with me into the trucking world set me up for a better tomorrow. I'm making more money than I ever have before and I'm super grateful to all of the staff that I interacted with. Local and national reps from 160 were all amazing to deal with and I couldn't praise them more for their efforts. Jeff who runs the office was amazing from the first day to work with. He handled all the financial stuff and got me crushing in the classroom. He was also great to just chat with, a very nice guy. A special thanks to Brad and Moose who run the salt lake yard at my time of attendance. They were thorough with answers to all of my questions and were particularly good at telling me what I was doing wrong. It isn't a bad thing. It set me up for success. And for that I'm grateful very much so."
"Wish I would have chosen a different school. With the 7k price tag you would expect to be getting quality training, this is far from accurate. The only people I have a good opinion of are Jeff and Ryan but of course Ryan was terminated because he was the only decent yard instructor and Jeff is the office manager. This school is so bad that even swift put it on a no hire list. Way too focused on just passing a test and not learn how to actually drive the truck. The instructors just sit on their phones all day only occasionally walking over to bark at a student. While on the yard I had to learn how to do the maneuvers from the students about to test. Figures why this lot has a 60% pass rate. Currently looking for a cdl career but as soon as the employers hear I got my cdl from 160 they hang up the phone. Very disappointed in this school and highly suggest anyone looking to get their cdl to find a different school. And yes did pass my test first try. No thanks to the instructors at this school."
"Even though I obtained my CDL through this school, there is so much I have to say about this location. The first 40 hours were great as it was all done online to obtain my permit initially. Will G., the classroom instructor, was awesome. His voice got stuck in my head, and it felt like he was with me when I took the permit test. However, my bad experience started when I got to the range and saw two instructors, Brad and Moose. They were very vocal about hating the company and not wanting to be there. Every day I went to the range, I felt like never stepping foot there again. They never taught me anything, and I was fortunate to have classmates who were very supportive of each other, so we learned together. The instructors watched as we all figured everything out ourselves over the course of three weeks. If I asked Brad any questions, he would get ticked off and respond as if he thought I was dumb, so I refrained from talking to him during those three weeks. Additionally, during my time there, there were only two trucks available for ten students. One was automatic, and the other was manual. As the three weeks passed, I religiously watched YouTube videos trying to find instruction elsewhere. When the time came to take my official road test, I was well-prepared because I put everything I had into wanting to pass, not because of the instructors. In my opinion, don't come here if you aren't willing to put in the work and study overtime with online instruction because nobody here will help you."
"Can't give enough thanks to the folks over at 160 Driving Academy of Salt Lake City. I walked in a complete novice & they gave me the keys to be successful. Deanne the Branch Manager was my introduction to the school & she's such a kind person & was there to provide support & answers to any questions I may have had. The lead instructor Ryan as well as instructor Mark are top notch and aren't afraid to get you out of your comfort zone so you can be successful. They'll crack jokes with you all day but take safety very serious & I know I'm going to do great because of the knowledge & game they've given me. Definitely recommend if your looking to get your CDL driving training from good people who know their craft. TEAM ONE AND DONE!"
