"We absolutely love this place. It’s a great quick dinner that’s delicious and fairly inexpensive. Great for busy nights with the family."
"The food was great. No complaints there. And the employees were kind to me as the customer. But when I was there, the manager (or owner?) and the employee were arguing the entire time. As a customer, I should not have to sit there while that happens. It doesn’t provide a good atmosphere. Have that conversation elsewhere. Now since you invited me into the conversation, let me make some comments. Manager…. You’re not a good manager. 1) you should have identified when to address this conversation. In front of customers was not appropriate. 2) You should not be pleading with your employee to get her friends to work there. Sure, maybe ask once if that’s your desire. But pleading isn’t going to help. You seem to be missing the reason why people don’t want to work there, but as an outsider, it is very obvious why I wouldn’t want to work there. I get that you’re stressed about running the business, but you should not put that burden onto your employees. They will leave you. 3) Your personality was very harsh and rigid. You should work on your interpersonal skill. People don’t leave jobs, they leave their managers. Try reading the book “How to win friends and influence people”, it is a good read for all. Employee…. 1) you should start interviewing elsewhere. You’re not going to get anything out of this job than an hourly paycheck and frustrating days. Go work for a place like Smiths or Chick-Fil-A. From a customers perspective, the managers are much nicer there. And go in with the intent on making a positive impression on everyone, not just to get a good paycheck. Your goal while you’re so young should be to make everyone enjoy working with you so that you have great referrals for your future jobs. I don’t think you’ll be leaving your current job with a good referral. To take it even further, ask your boss for feedback. Write both your positive and negative feedback (make sure you get both). Use the positive feedback in your next interview. Use the negative feedback to identify areas you can improve on. And when your next interviewer asks “what is your biggest weaknesses”, answer them with one of those, and tell them how you’ve been working on it. 2) You also have a responsibility not to argue in front of customers. And really, you shouldn’t argue with your boss like that at all. If you have concerns, have a conversation at an appropriate time, in an appropriate place, be productive about it, and don’t be so reactive. And do not try to use your disability as leverage. That will get you nowhere. Are you not capable? Or are you someone that is strong, capable, and has a growth mindset? What qualities will you be putting on your resume for your next job? How can you represent those now."
"Thanks Karen for taking such good care of us and helping me figure out what to eat. The food is great and the service is even better!"
"Love the little place. Karen is fast, quick and efficient as hell! She gave me a great offer for a drink and mandoo. I just love it and I will be back expecting to be served by her."
