"We waited an hour and a half before the Vet saw us. We were one of 3 people there. Her exam consisted of taking our dogs temperature, checking her heart beat and touching her leg (not the dogs paw. Which is why we were there). Another 20 min went by before they came in and presented a bill for $600 for the exam and X-rays that had yet to happen. Then we were told the X-rays would not be read for an hour. That. Is. Crazy. I’m sure people in a pinch would be willing to pay this much, however we were not. I took my dog to my vet the next morning and they performed X-rays, blood tests, and thorough exam and my bill was $275 WITH meds for a week. Also, the whole visit lasted an hour and 15 min and I was one of 8 people there. I work in a hospital and the ER is staffed to give appropriate care in a timely manner. Thank goodness this wasn’t a real emergency where time was a factor between life and death."
