Dr. Gerald Berg DMD

"If I could give a negative score, I would. I saw Dr. Berg for over 15 years, seeing him every six months with X-rays & teeth cleaning. In March, 2019, after seeing him that morning, I woke up with excruciating pain in my molar. The next day I saw another provider who did an X-ray & told me that I had a massive cavity that had been there at least three years. Dr. Berg’s response was “I told you to have a root canal.” Since there was no decay in the tooth, there was no reason to do so. There weeks later, I had a comprehensive exam with an Adam VanLeuwen who told me that I had two broken fillings with decay, one crown put on incorrectly, & two additional cavities. He also told me I would need an implant. Dr. Berg did not use the correct X-rays for someone with metal crowns. He used a BITEWING instead of a Vertical BITEWING which can see the surfaces of the tooth. The massive cavity can be clearly seen in the X-ray which Dr Berg took previously. The total amount to fix these issues was $9800 & would have been $12,000 had I not had the discount plan. Dr Berg refused to reimburse me for any costs despite my several letters. This happened during COVID. I was unsuccessful in finding an attorney to handle my case. A few months ago I filed a complaint with The Bureau of Professional Licensing Dept. There is no charge for filing and the investigator met with me for several hours. While I am not allowed to learn what happened during as a result of the hearing, I have a feeling he was cited. ( The case is still open.) I would urge anyone who has had a bad experience with Dr Berg to file a complaint as I did; this is the only way to have his license revoked and protect the public."

"Our family has been going to Dr. Berg for 30+ years. We have experienced the best care from him and his staff. From the minimal amount of work my kids have needed to the extensive work that my husband and I have needed over the years, his office and staff has gone above and beyond what normally is expected. He ensures that I am never in pain. The end result of each procedure that we have had, have all been hugely successful. I have many crowns and a couple of implants and people compliment my teeth and smile all of the time. Dr. Berg has the latest technology and knowledge to keep up with any dental needs you may have, at a reasonable cost. Our family has moved several times over the years to and from Salt Lake City including 5 different states and an overseas assignment. We continue to make sure we get back to Dr. Berg’s office for any dental care that we need. Our 3 children are all adults now, 2 of the 3 kids live outside of Utah and also make sure that they get back to Dr. Berg’s office for check ups and cleanings. Having a very trusted Dentist such as Dr. Berg, who truly cares about our treatment and well being, is a phenomenon that our family is very grateful for."
