"This store sold me a faulty gift card and refused to help when I asked customer service. Poor job king stupid. I will be shopping at safeway from now on."

"Jayla, Noah and Cat are amazing workers here. They always make me laugh and help me find what I need. They all three deserve a raise."

"5 star review for a specific incident, but they seem to have a good culture (at least in the checkout area). Did not catch a name, but the attendant for the self-checkout did an excellent job this evening taking care of a customer. The customer had spilled blueberries all over the floor during a busy time, but this attendant did an amazing job at helping clean up while also assisting the customer with getting a replacement all the while being kind & reassuring."

"I don't understand why the meat department always has a bad attitude when you make a request for a custom cut. I went the other day to ask for a steak for my birthday and the clerk gets upset with me asking and walks me over to the weekly specials case and says "this is what we have." I asked the other clerk for a custom cut and he reluctantly explained what was available for a custom order. In the end, the first clerk argued with him over having to open another bag of meat. Eventually my steak got cut, but bringing it home to cook it ,they didn't cut it properly out of spite, the grain orientation was way off and it didn't come out. Super disappointing having known Kroger and subsidiary brands' reputation for service and quality."

"Not sure what drove me to review a grocery store but once I saw that others had issues with the "checkout policeman," some dark force took over my body and here we are. I'm going to start with some things that ruffle me about King Soopers/Kroger in general and then specify. First, KS is becoming more and more dystopian. Almost every available checkout is a self-checkout, so alongside those higher grocery prices and bag fees, you also have to do the work that was once included in the cost of a visit to the store. Two, said dystopian technology at each KS store is pretty much designed to make you feel criminal. You can no longer mute the incredibly loud self-checkout lady so she screams at you throughout your transaction. The regular self-checks are so inaccurate so be prepared to get "employee assistance" at least once because it won't register something you scanned or weighed. Now, into some Bergen Parkway specifics. If you're going to go, go at night. The younger staff is much friendlier, willing to chat, answer questions. During the daytime, unless you're doing a pickup, you're liable to encounter some incredibly disgruntled, unhappy people. I'm sure it's not a blast to work at KS, especially at an older age, seeing jobs that were once filled by people being replaced by automated conveyor belts and self-checkouts. Also, with increased cost of living, working in such a public-facing place has to be hard. That being said, certain employees seem like they actively dislike the customers and treat us not only rudely but with actual hostility. This is where we meet the "checkout policeman" who, in his older age, moves incredibly fast to accost you and make you feel like a thief—my dude, I literally have my card out to pay for everything on the belt right now, I'm not trying to get the 80c vegetables for free right now. Then, he made sure to inform me why I was doing it wrong and why the machine had started correcting itself. So, ultimately, there was no need for him to come harass me, as the machine was already taking care of it, but he felt the need to anyways. Sir, do you get commission for each customer you make feel uncomfortable? Entering a KS already feels like wandering into a police state, what with armed guards, cameras everywhere, and self-checkouts that are so sensitive they'll accuse anyone of inappropriate activity for just about no reason. To add in the volunteer task force of overly involved KS employees is enough to make me never visit here during the daytime again. TL;DR, the checkout policeman ruins another experience."
