"These incredible dancers brought the islands (my childhood home) to me for my birthday during the pandemic! My partner had a surprise trip planned that had to be rescheduled…and we were pretty devastated. But he surprised me again by booking Kalama and having them share their stunning talent with me, my parents, several friends on a special Zoom call, and—eventually—several excited neighbors who were pulled out onto the lawn and their balconies by the spectacle! I don’t think that I stopped crying for the entire performance—from the announcing sound of the p’u outside of our door to the final bow! It’s something that I will never ever forget and I’m forever grateful for the generosity of these wonderful dancers!"
