Reviews
"Now I will be really honest, I was so scared to come to Horizon because I was told that Horizon is such a bad school and that I will get jumped or get offered drugs, which honestly it hasn't happened, and probably won't. It honestly depends on the people you decide to associate yourself with. But in 6th grade this school was awful! They're were fights on a weekly basis, and they're were terrible teachers who didn't know how to run a classroom. But In 7th grade, Horizon changed for the better. They had great teachers and staff, they're weren't any fights that I saw during the school day. I had great teachers like Ms. Nilan, Ms. Wilkins, and Ms. Killham, and honestly I enjoyed them a lot. My teachers had a connection with me and checked if I was ok, and was always there to talk to me. Now I am in 8th grade and everything is really good. This school really changed, and it can be a GREAT school as long as you associate yourself with the right people. The security guards are really relaxed and super nice. The worst part about this school is some of the students that go to this school are super disrespectful to teachers, also lunch in 8th grade is very early (10:55am). But you can meet a bunch of different people, and it honestly a place that I strangely like, and will def miss.."
"The way the schedule is organized could use a lot of work. And the recess area could use some touching up. I'd have to say that a large amount of students there are good people that actually want to learn but sadly the ones that don't are so much more obvious and prevalent. This sadly makes it hard for students like myself that want to learn to enjoy or look forward to coming to school everyday. In addition to this the lunch period is way too short as a result of recess. The kids spend maybe 7 minutes outside and only 12 minutes in the lunchroom 3 of which are spent waiting in line. That leaves only 9 minutes for students to eat and as a result the amount of wasted food is way higher than it needs to be. But at it's core Horizon is still a school and the hardworking teachers make it impossible for you not to learn."
"When I went there I was being pushed around all the time trying to reach out for help and nobody was there for me. In one of my classes the teacher wouldn't teach us anything he would talk about when he was litte. I don't even think this school should get a star the authority's there are very rude and racist towards students. Towards the end of my 7th grade year I got in a fight for standing up for myself and the Dean had my mom come In and told her I was a terrible student. And one of my teachers would always write referrals because I was a slow learner. This school went from being one of the best in 6th then our principal left and now it's horrible. The best part was having a counselor to talk to."
"I've been going to horizon for 2 years now. I feel that in terms of education this is a pretty good school. But some of the authority figures can be very rude. Like the teachers will give you a referral for the dumbest reasons, like my one friend almost got a referral for chewing gum in the classroom. They have OKAY lunch choices, they aren't my personal favorite. But to conclude this school has its pros and it's cons."
"This school is pretty turnt tho like me and my bestfrann would always have hella fun in science. The science teacher is the nicest teacher there next to my 6.3 social studies teacher. There's many sports to play and easy to learn fundamentals and have fun. Honestly the people at the school are pretty cool too especially if people actually like you. If you have charm and charisma like me you can get friends. Jkjk but the counselors at the school are extremely helpful especially if you need someone to talk to they might not care but they'll listen tho. In all honesty, the new principal is changing a lot of things but we can't change anything now so we have to deal with it. It's her school her rules even tho they be dumb af. If you're getting bullied or harassed at school telling the Dean always works especially if it's Ms. Monica she cares a bit too much tbh. You can get caught all up in your feelings talking to her. The teachers can be exceptionally helpful when needing help all you have to do is treat them with respect like most kids forgot how to do. My brother Teshai made the AVID teacher have a breakdown yet she still likes me despite my family's past. The staff there is very honorable and treat you as you want to be treated. Lunch at the school is nutritional and healthy . The nurses office provides you with immediate medication if needed and treat you very well. Overall, I'm able to get work done at the school and advance my education. I would like to give a shout out to Mrs. Donnelly for letting me act like a fool in class but still helping me get my work done and Mr. Castlebury for never forcing us to do homework but teaching us emmense amounts of knowledge in class. Byeeeee ✌✌"
