"As a parent, I had two kids go to Shadow Ridge before we moved. While most of the teachers my kids had were good, the administration leaves something to be desired. Our son was assaulted on school property by an individual that was already facing suspension for altercations with other students. Instead of escorting him to his locker to get his belongings, the administration let him go off by himself. Once he was out of the office, he took off and assaulted my son on his way off campus. My son was knocked unconscious, and was left to pick himself up and walk home. The school didn't do anything for him until his father and I went and talked to him the next day, come to find out, the kid had threatened my son earlier that day, and they didn't even alert us of that. They never expelled the kid that assaulted my son, nor did they put any practices into place to keep the other kid away from him."
"My child has been at this school 3 years and for the most part enjoys it. As a parent though, I've never been satisfied with how the administration deals with conflict or problem solving. I never feel like I'm heard or respected as a parent. In fact, I feel undermined. When I protest to how things are done I'm usually met with statements about how long they've been in education or other superiority statements. It's very frustrating. My other student is in this district's grade school and I have zero complaints with them, they've been wonderful."
"My child is a high functioning autistic and was severely bullied here. The only ones who genuinely showed care and actually believed what my child was forced to endure while attending this school were the special needs teachers and a few general ed teachers who witnessed how some of the students behaved. The principal wanted proof other than verbal testimony, she protected the bullies over my child. It was very traumatizing for my child to be told there was no proof. My child has since been homeschooling and is a completely different child. An "average" child may fare well here but definitely don't bring your special needs children here. Again, not because of the special needs teachers but because there's no advocate here strong enough to protect them. I must also add the resource officer was really great with my child."
"If I could rate this school a 0 STAR I would. It is very bad school. Teachers and Staffs are harassing students more than anything else. They think that because the school has law enforcement, they are thinking that they are being protected. They think they have the right to pick on students everyday. Especially the administration staff. Specifically a person named Bernie Donin. He was not respectful to students and my son also. He gives lack of motivation and confidence. I definitely 100% do not see this is a good school at all. There are better schools than this one in particular."
"This School is not horrible but its not ok I have gone through depression and many concerns of my health at this school. I believe this school needs to take care of the kids and understand bullying is an issue and that fights are also a big problem. I do agree though with the I.D and that u have to clean the lunch because that is your fault that u forgot your i.d. But overall this school needs some work and I do think that it is ok to send your kid here."
