Best Friends Animal Hospital

"DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! I adopted a kitty that had gotten spayed by these guys before I got her & I was told to schedule an appointment to get her stitches out. I live an hour away from this clinic, but I thought it would be best to take my kitty to a vet that she already knew. I drove the whole hour drive with my kitty & when I got there, it was a tiny building & there were at least 2 strongly scented candles burning in the waiting area. If the scent was too strong for me, I guarantee it’s too much for the animals. Immediately, the front desk lady tells me I need to put my cat in a cage, she then told me that it was irresponsible for me to not have one. I didn’t realize it was a rule, since I’ve been to multiple other vets that allow you to just hold your kitty. She then brings out a cage from the back, to put my kitty in. I sit down to wait & I notice that my kitty is shaking terribly. When the vet was finally ready, he came out & grabbed the cage & took it to the back room. I asked the front desk woman if I could go back there with my cat, & she gave me a weird look & told me “you can if you really want to”. I’ve never been to a vet where they don’t call both the animal & the owner into the room, but it seemed almost like she didn’t want me to go back there. When I went back into the tiny exam room, I was horrified by how this vet treated my sweet kitty. He grabbed her very roughly by her scruff & yanked her out of the kennel, flipped her on her back & tried to instruct the vet assistant to remove the stitches. My kitty was obviously scared & being handled like that with no care, did nothing but scare her more. She reacted like any cat would, meowing loudly & hissing. She never attempted to bite/scratch, she was simply scared. The vet went so quick, that he didn’t take the time to calmly remove her from the kennel, give her some pets, & calmly flip her around & hold her, so they could get their work done. Instead he was very rough with my very tiny kitty. After seeing how she reacted, he forced her back into the cage & said that it wasn’t gonna work out. He said “she’s too aggressive to be awake, we gotta knock her out to do it. come back tomorrow morning & drop her off & we will put her asleep & get it done” As if I would ever leave my cat alone with you after you just treated her with such carelessness. The vet went on & on about how it’s not worth going to the emergency room over a cat scratch/bite, & how if I went to the doctors to get treated & started punching the doc in the face, they’d call the cops on me, not continue treating me. Like this is a tiny kitty, the size of a 9 month old kitten, & totally malnourished, not a fully grown human. She’s also fully vaccinated, so what’s with the fear??? If you’re afraid of animals, then maybe you shouldn’t be a vet. I then explained to the vet that I live an hour away, and he said “it’s no problem, all you have to do is drop her off in the morning and come pick her up after 3pm” as if I don’t have a life, job, college, etc. I then get led out to the waiting area, where the front desk lady doesn’t even ask if the next day works for me. I simply say, I don’t know if that will work for me, & she says again, just like the vet “you can just drop her off in the morning & pick her up after 3pm tomorrow.” like no I will not actually. Not after the vet handled my tiny kitty like that. I then go to take my cat out of the cage, & the lady insists I take the cage and just bring it back tomorrow. I said no thank you and that she did fine the whole drive there, but she said again to please just take the cat carrier. I said no, it’s ok. & she said “she’s not going to be very happy with you, so it’s best that you leave her in there, you can just bring it back tomorrow. don’t worry about it, we have plenty”. Like ok if you really insist, but I’m not coming back here. I left & cried in the car with my kitty, who didn’t do anything but curl up in my arms after I took her out of the cage. After reading other reviews, it’s clear these people do not care about animals."

"After over 3 years of taking our Senior dogs here and giving him a lot of business as well as referrals for Best Friends to our dog grooming clients, I absolutely am done with Dr Martin. We love Arron and hope he goes elsewhere. Dr. Martin is rude, sarcastic and narcissistic among other things. I got to the point where every time I went there I wondered how many time he would put down anything I asked or said. Yesterday our Yorkie was crying out pain so I called Doc Martin and told him what was going on. Dead silence on the other end of the line. He finally said he would meet us there. We drove an hour as usual to get there. He met us there and immediately started in on me by belittling our care of her. When my husband stepped in to defend me, he handed my very sick dog to us and told us to get the f@@& out. He was and is extremely unprofessional. We finally found a very caring and awesome vet at Surface Creek who saved our dog’s life. Doc Martin was willing to let our dog die because his ego was bruised and he “hates this time of year!” Consumer Beware."

"I thought I had written a review after I visited Best Friends Animal Hospital, but see I didn't! This is the best veterinarian clinic I've ever visited. Over the years I've had several breed of dogs and had some good doctor's. But this was the best of the best! From the time I walked in until I walked out we were treated like family. Fantastic knowledge of the signs and symptoms my baby had. The correct diagnoses, treatment, medication and above all the kindness and caring way they cared for him and treated me. If you take your human baby into a doctor or hospital and given a bill, you don't bat an eye! You are grateful and pay it. You should feel the same about your sick fur baby. If you don't, you do not need to be a pet owner. Love your animals, love your veterinarian! And staff!!!❤️"

"While visiting Colorado, our maltipoo Daisy needed to see a vet. I am so pleased with the care she received. Everyone was so welcoming and nice. Dr. Martin and his assistant took excellent care of her problem. If I lived anywhere near Eckert, Best Friends would be my vet of choice. Thank you to everyone there for your kindness and wonderful treatment of Daisy."
