Kirin Hot Pot

"We had never been to a hot pot restaurant and weren't sure what to expect. We had a very nice experience. You choose your broth (the kimchi broth was delicious!) and meat, and then there is an all you can eat buffet of vegetables, seafood, sauces and toppings to add to your soup. Everything was very clean, and the buffet was fresh and stocked for our entire meal. I wish we could eat here more often because we all loved it, but it was a splurge for us. For our family of 5, it was $200, and we drank water. It will have to be a special occasion for us to return and spend that much again."

"Very good - broths had delicate flavors which was nice as it gathers flavor from the foods put into the pot. So much variety to add, so many sauces... all very fresh and delicious. Smells a bit like seafood which makes sense because they have that in the open fridge. Loved it opening weekend and my dad has not stopped talking about it so had to come back when we visited. New additions since then include ice cream and sesame balls and fried dough all delicious. Disappointing that they don't have the chicken feet anymore but I guess it wasn't as popular which we understand. Much faster service today than on opening weekend- a great sign!"

"All you can eat traditional hot pot restaurant conveniently located next to Great Wall Supermarket in Bloomfield. We stopped by after the grocery shopping and happy that there is one closer by. It was quiet as it may be still rather new. Service was great - our waiter was very attentive and checked with us from time to time what else foods we needed to add. Decent offering in terms of meats and vegetables and soup bases. While seafood is my favorite, I was not so crazy about the shrimp and the fish I got. Some of the house special sauces on the sauce bar were unique and good. They also have some premade appetizers on the sauce bar."

"If you want some classic hot pot flavor, without much fanciness and glamour, this place will do great. The store is pretty straightforward; You order your meats and broth, then head to their buffet for additional fixings and make your sauces. Their options aren't huge, but they carry the most important ones like lobster balls and other seafood. The scenery is pretty cozy, hole-in-the-wall vibe, with little style projectors on the walls to make it less drab. And the service could be better for meats, as they did wait til the end of our session to meet up with us again. Better luck next time, I suppose."

"Note: this is a grand opening rating, with the understanding & hope they will likely improve with logistics & service/pacing in the future! Overall really high value (29.99 a person for AYCE) and the quality of ingredients for everything we had was good. Meat quality was great! The fat sheep & brisket were fatty & had a good silky texture once cooked. Did not get a chance to try the seafood since they were so busy they forgot the ones we ordered. Sauce station is HUGE. One of the bigger hot pot sauce stations! It also featured several side dishes: chicken wings, duck wings, marinated egg, fermented bean curd & chicken feet! I love hot pot places with side dishes so this is a plus!! No dessert offerings/sides at this time though. Mind you, it took 40 minutes for us to get our broth (it turns out they lost our order) so come with patience as they just opened. They’re pretty busy and have a few logistics to navigate but still so happy to have a hot pot up North! The ambiance here is pretty, and minimalistic."
