"We took in a canvas sewing project w/ all the needed fabric included, reviewed the specific work needing to be done, stated what our budget was, & asked if the work could be completed for that amount of money by a specific date (nearly a month later), as we needed it to be completed for a public event. The owner assured us it would be done in time & within budget. A few days before we were to pick up the finished product, we called to set up a time to meet on that date. The owner seemed caught off guard by the due date we mentioned & stated he had a lot of projects that had come in before ours, so he wasn't sure that all of the work on the project could be done by that day. To be flexible, we pushed back the pick-up date to allow him more time, then when we called to let him know we were on the way to pick it up at the newly agreed upon date/time, he stated that he still only completed about 1/3 of the project. Since we had to have the project ready to leave town the next day, we stated the one task that had to be finished so that we could at least make it workable & said we'd have to come sometime the next day to pick it up if he could just finish that one task. The owner tried to avoid even doing that work, became rude on the phone, and stated we'd "get the product back when he decides to give it to us." We showed up the next day to collect our property (in whatever state of completion it was in) since we had to leave town for the event, & he had done 1/2 of the total project, stated the work he had done already would cost $100 over our original budget, and thought that cutting that amount in half was doing us a favor. Plus, he was dishonest about ever coming out to make needed measurements to finish the work he didn't complete, as he said he went to a completely different address to measure it. Untrustworthy & unprofessional!!!"
