Hampton Inn Des Moines-Airport

"My flight arrived at the airport just before midnight and I did not want to drive 2 hours to get home (nor did I have a car at the airport anyway). I had picked this hotel because it was close to the airport and offered a free shuttle ride from the airport to the hotel. I called the hotel, and they sent over a shuttle very quickly. The ride was short, and the shuttle driver was very friendly. Check-in was fast and friendly, and the room was clean, comfortable, and reasonably quiet for being near an airport. The breakfast was good, and check-out was fast and friendly as well. Thanks for the pleasant stay near the end of my long trip!"

"The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. I mean the maintenance staff, front desk staff, the lady cleaning the rooms, and the shuttle driver - everyone that works there. I have stayed in dozens of hotels throughout my working life and the staff here was the best. The hotel is very convenient to the airport. The hotel is concrete construction, so you don't hear other guests. There is a bit of airport noise depending upon the room location and flight patterns. But the hvac has a constant fan mode that provides good background sleeping noise which covers most of that. And you are right next to the airport, so some noise is expected. A great hotel overall."

"Super close to the airport, which is a plus. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was standard waffles and rotating eggs/sausage/biscuits. Tasty as usual. My only complaint (and I honestly just forgot to mention it to the staff) was that the shower never got hot.... luke warm at best. I thought it might have something to do with being the end room on the top floor but the sink got plenty hot, so I think it was just something funky with the shower faucet."

"Marie at the front desk was having a bad day. Even though it was 10:45am 15 minutes before checkout, my identity was verified, and I still have a room that was paid for, she still would not let me have the key to my room. There is more to the story that involved the safety of someone, which I shouldn't have had to share. This is about the principle. If anything would have happened, Marie would be folding towels at Anamosa. I'd like Hyatt to call me so I can share the full story. Marie's twisted sense of right and wrong and controlling nature is a real danger."

"This hotel needs a face lift. It also needs a good cleaning. The vents in the breakfast area are covered in dirt and the bathtub in the room looked old, dirty and yellowed. The room was also smaller than normal and the nightlight was burned out."
