Homewood Suites by Hilton Des Moines Airport 7201 Southwest 22nd Street, Des Moines, IA 50321

"First & foremost, I am a loyal Hilton Honors member of many years and I go out of my way to always use Hilton. I was disappointed the Doubletree was closed for remodeling so, for the first time, my wife and I decided to try the Homewood Suites - Des Moines Airport location. Since we were flying out to visit family for 3-4 days, I read the hotel has a shuttle service so we chose this Hilton location. On arrival, front desk clerk Brennan advised us that 'we don't offer park & shuttle service to the airport' and said the reason is because the parking lot is too small. I asked what good the shuttle service is to customers then and he informed me it is reserved only for customers with no vehicle! That's dandy. Then - on top of that - he filled out a vehicle card and instructed us that we had to go back outside and place the card on the dashboard in order to avoid being towed. He didn't offer us waters - nothing and we were not impressed. Once we did get to our room, I will say the room was very nice, very clean and really met our needs - HOWEVER that bed was one of the most uncomfortable beds we have EVER slept on. Breakfast was the usual tasteless fare, with next to no oatmeal left in the bottom of the container, and the brown sugar had hardened to petrified status. There were omelets and breakfast meats available but not one piece of fresh fruit! Needless to say - we had already reserved a room at this same location where we would stay after our flight into Des Moines (assuming we would park & fly) - BUT - we canceled our reservation and stayed at the very nice Hampton Inn on Mills Civic Parkway in West Des Moines instead. Never again. The Mills Civic location will remain a good option and I'm anxious for Doubletree to reopen."

"Amazing service, great rooms and close to the airport. The front desk was friendly, welcoming and helped me with making my kids feel comfortable. Will be stay here again!"

"Everything was looking great when I first got there, until I had to check in at the front where either on of the receptionist/manager was able to help me get situated in my room, 8:30ish pm, after a long day of traveling and work all I wanted was my room to be ready to get some rest, instead, I had to book a different hotel because o f the issues I encounter in this location where I was asked for a different credit card than the one I specifically asked the front desk to utilize already in the system, as a Hilton Diamond member I never experience such a bizarre experience where booking my room ahead of time was a waste of time. After leaving this location, I went to a hotel next door where they did not have an issue utilizing the credit card on file, and I was given a room in less than 2 minutes. Besides the point I was charged $208.32 for late cancelation fee. why? I didn't canceled a room reservation when I was not given 1! If you want a hotel please avoid this one, you may safe yourself a lot of headaches!"

"Staff was friendly and eager to serve. The front desk phone was answered promptly and the young lady on the phone (I forgot her name sorry but she worked Sunday March 26th in the evening) was polite and helpful. The pool was clean and towels stocked. The gym was a slightly better that typically hotel gym, the I didn't use it and opted to burn calories in the pool.. The lobby has a huge seating area with an assortment of comfortable seating options (yes my kids tried then all). There is a business area with communal computers and a printer as well. There is a nice breakfast spread and coffee and hot tea bar plus options to purchase food and beverages at the front desk."

"Very clean, beautiful hotel. The staff are all very hospitable, and they were always wearing a smile. We stayed 3 nights during the Iowa Deer Classic and this was the perfect home away from home. There’s a nice pool, gym, basketball court, and even a potty place for the family pet! They thought of it all here, the rooms are spacious, including a full refrigerator, dishwasher, kitchen utensils, glasses, etc. highly recommend!"
