Days Inn by Wyndham Ankeny - Des Moines

"The room was nice but needed dusting. The security doors in back of the hotel were not locked so anyone could walk in guest or not. They need to secure those doors especially since this hotel is close to the interstate. It was cold and there had been snow and sidewalks were icy. The front entrance had not been shoveled or salt put down and neither had that been done by the back entrances. I of course even though I was being careful slipped and fell. I went to the office and told them they really should throw out some salt because of all the ice. They didn't do anything. The front office is dingy and outdated. It was an okay place for a two night stay but I would never come back"

"1. There was no hot water in the sink. This was reported at approximately 8:30 pm, and by 6:30 am the following morning the water was still cold. Very difficult to shave and wash face/hands with cold water. Despite this being reported to the front desk, no action was taken and no comp for the room was offered. 2. The room had a horrid smell to it, very dank and musty. 3. Several outlets had no switch plate covers. While they were not easily accessible, it looked awful and one could have been accessed by a small child. 4. No phones in the rooms, so to report issues you have to walk down to the desk. 5. Despite having a smart TV in the room, no smart apps were accessible. I've been in other hotels where you could get to things like Netflix, and then do a one day log in with your personal account. 6. While it appears that they are attempting to fix up the hotel, there are still a number of things that show how worn it is, like the rubber welcome mat right outside of the office door. Most of the nubs are worn off and it looks terrible. 7. There were no bath towels in the room. Of course, we didn't discover that until we were showering so we had to dry off with hand towels. This was such a disappointing experience and had we been staying more than a single night in Des Moines, I'd have moved us to another hotel."

"My husband and I stayed one night in room 121 August 10, 2023 checked out August 11, 2023. We traveled for over 15 hours and was completely exhaused We had just fallen asleep and got a call from the front desk at 10:45 PM asking if we had pets, and we replied no. First off that's rude and second off, disturbing the peace. We will never stay there again. Plus y'all need to fix that AC unit, because when the compressor in it kicks off and on it sounds like a door slamming and no dead bolts for proper protection. Never ever will we stay there again."

"Stayed there for several months while looking for a new place. Great staff. Provided any accommodations I requested. Cleaning staff also very friendly, and never touched any of my valuables I left in my room. I could leave cash out and it went untouched."
