"Dan & his crew were very affable - even very friendly. Dan did a lot of talking but hard to say how knowledgeable as the only “whale” we saw turned out to be a small sail boat in the distance that he claimed was a humpback spouting. At the end he said “glad we saw a whale!” Unlike his guarantee he didn’t offer a return trip or even a thank you for my $145 payment for a 2.5 hour wild goose chase. I understand not being able to find whales - I couldn’t find one myself - that’s why I hired Dan. But he conned a boat load of folks out of our money since he didn’t even mention the return trip promise. Everyone was incredulous. Sorry but worst whale trip of about a dozen I’ve taken. - Jonathan"

"Captain Dan McSweeney's Whale Watching Adventure was awesome! Make sure to get there well ahead of the check-in time so you can get a good seat up top (we couldn't find the meeting spot so were back of the line). Captain Dan and his crew were very knowledgeable, doing mini-presentations about the whales around Hawaii. We spotted multiple whales and had a lovely morning on the water, so overall it was worth the trip. However, if you visit Hawaii and just scan the shore from the beach, you are likely to see whales in the winter. We saw more whales breaching and tail flaps just from a beach north of Kona!"

"Book this tour! Very impressed with Cap'n McSweeney & his crew. Very kind, made us all feel welcome. Based on the staff & their demeanor alone, this was the best tour experience I've booked in Hawaii. Whale watching takes time (took us about an hour before we spotted a whale). We were provided with proper safety information, EXCELLENT commentary & narration from the the captain with add'l explanations from the crew on everything we passed. They kept us entertained, explained & knew everything, & provided numerous rounds of snacks & a cool towel on the return journey. We saw a mom & her calf and a few other whales. Not too many, but with the captain's explanations that's all you needed!"
