"Well I was just in HIC store in Kailua. I am visiting with my 87 year old Mother and I had stopped in to buy a board. My Mother said that she needed to use the restroom so I asked the female employee whom stated that she wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom that she would have to go across the street to Target or somewhere else without even a consideration for her age! She just turned 87 and I brought her here to Oahu for her birthday as her birthday present. So I was forced to leave the store and go across the street to the Target with an 87 year old lady who just needed to use the bathroom HOW VERY RUDE!!!! You lost my business and my recommendation to anyone asking from now on and I hope people read this review and think how horrible you treated that 87 year old lady! You definitely need a lesson in customer service and manners! Sad, I grew up here and went to high school here and always supported this store but not anymore!"

"Even though I’ve lived here for a while, this shop flew under my radar until someone told me about their board sale. They have a great selection of surf boards and gear like wetsuits, rash guards, leashes and more. They’ve also got skateboards and of course plenty of clothing and shoes as well as other local stuff. I love their bathing suit selection for guys, but I think their girls swim selection is more limited. I found my exact size and suit here and the prices are generally good (esp when there’s a markdown). I’ve found the staff there to be pretty helpful. If you need some gear this is the place. For more big gear oriented shop (think kayaks, sup boards etc), you’ve got Kailua water sports across the street as well so that’s handy."

"Recently came to this store purchase some sandals for my kids on Dec 28th. At first I wasn’t sure if the store was unstaffed because looking for someone to grab a size was quite difficult. However noticed in one corner section of the store there were 3 store members beside the cash chatting and was not very willing to help. Cash was busy with 2 other staff members boxing and cashing out clients. If you need a selection they do have but limited sizes, better off at Ala Moana location."

"I can't speak highly enough of Keala and her team at HIC Kailua. They helped to order in 2 hoodies and were prompt with their calls when they had arrived. On top of the outstanding customer service, the selection is fantastic. Highly recommend this shop."
