Max's Restaurant Waipahu, Cuisine of the Philippines

"First impression was meh! We walked in and the girl in the front (Razelle) looked at us and walked away and then just watched us stand there from another part of the restaurant. Then after a while she came back to the front and asked if we were taking out. We were dining in. So she walked us to our table. Can I say she (Razelle) is the worst server. She took our order and disappeared. We then had Henry come by and started to take care of us afterwards because (Razelle) ignored us after taking our order. Henry was an amazing server! Very attentive and great! He brought us plates and water which (Razelle) didnt even bring before our food got to our table. She had the worst attitude! Then we finished off with Henry. He brought us our doggy bag and our dessert. We ordered the small garlic rice, the bulaklak, Max’s chicken and they were all good. The only thing I didnt like was the kare kare. Usually I am used to the oxtail in the karekare fall off the bone soft and this one was hard and I didnt like the flavor of it. I gave it 3 stars because of Henry and the other tasty things on the menu. Halo Halo was nice!"

"We always eat at Max's when we come to Hawaii. There was a big party today so we expected a long wait. Nope, we were seated in 5min. Ordered a few min after sitting and waited 5min for our food to come out. It was all nice a hot. There was 8 of us in our group so I was really impressed on the service, speed and freshness of out food. The employees were very friendly. I love the Crispy Pata and the rest of the family gets they're usual home cooked Filipino food. If you like Filipino cuisine or just want home cooked food like we do then you can't go wrong at Max's."

"One of my favorite food - is Filipino food! On Valentine's Day, my husband and I decided to take our family out instead of just the two of us to Max for a family date night. Our girls couldn't attend because they already had plans. Max's is always packed! We dined in and were seated at the corner - my hubby, myself, my baby sister, and my niece. It was only the 5 of us, but we were there to feast! The service was excellent, never had to ask for refills, and we did not wait long for our food, given how busy they were. When our family got sick with Covid, Max's was our place to order soup and all the food from. It is a little on the pricey side, but it is worth it if you don't want to cook. Our bill was $270 including the $35 gratuity added on by the server for a party of 5. We will come back again, and again!"
