"We ordered 4 hamburgers and waited for at least 20 minutes. We should've checked it before we left. We got all the way home for lunch with our guests only to find every hamburger was burnt and overcooked. I was so embarassed to feed it to my guests that I dumped them. The burgers ain't cheap either. We retrieved one of the hamburgers and the receipt and called the manager and told her our hamburgers looked cremated. She was deeply sorry and offered replacement burgers. Next time we will CHECK our food before leaving! When she gave my husband the replacement hamburgers, she told him "that's how we cook our hamburgers here (the burnt ones) because it's homemade." Gosh, I'd hate to eat at her house if she calls it homemade! Triple Yikes!"

"I ate here many years ago and returned with the ohana (family) to share Oahu's best Saimin! The same friendly staff as 15 years ago and the food is still just as delicious as it was the first time. Avoid the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and take a trip to Shiro's, it is worth it, I promise!"

"Tried out their breaded boneless chicken with gravy… I was tasting the old frying oil from the chicken and even the chicken was not tasty at all. Gravy was just ok.. They posted on their menu that the make the gravy old traditional way but it was nothing like that and doesn’t even taste close to that… So i’ll not like to go to this place again. Only “pro” is that the service & staff were good."

"If I could give ZERO stars, I would. But since I have to give a star to place a review, thus the 1 star. ————————————————————————————— Tonight I decided to try Shiro’s Ewa Beach with my children because of the $0.50 Anniversary special that was mentioned on the local news earlier in the week. There was a long line... The line was slow-moving... There was a lot of kitchen staff, but they were slow... I placed an order for 5 small saimin (nothing else; no modifications) at the take-out window... I waited patiently for our order, giving them the benefit of the doubt being that they had this special going on. It was when I started to notice that other customers who had ordered 20 minutes AFTER we ordered (and definitely not phone orders because I was paying attention) that I started to get irritated. Their orders with other plate lunch food and burgers/fries and saimin were being completed. After watching at least 4 orders get picked up, and being the ONLY customers remaining at outside the takeout area, only then did I walk up to the pickup window. (Mind you, the staff can see out and we can see in through the clear glass windows.) The worker inquired about what our order was. Turns out our order was not even in the front area where orders were being processed!!!! She walked to the back where the saimin noodles were being cooked, dashi was kept, and garnishes set-up. Lo and behold, PART of our order was sitting in a soda can box (3 out of the 5 small saimin)... I watched the worker scoop dashi, add garnishes, and grab readily prepared saimin noodles for 2 of our small saimin! She walked back to us in the front, with no explanation as to WHY it took 30 MINUTES for us to get our 5 small saimin order!?! I asked her why it took so long, and her excuse was that the restaurant side was also busy?!? I understand that, I could see into the restaurant side, but it is UNACCEPTABLE that we had to wait that long. The worker even tried to deny that other takeout orders placed after mine did not include saimin! I know for a fact that their saimin (small as well as other sizes) were picked up! The worker thought she would be sending me on my merry way since I got what I ordered. In no way was I offered something to make up for the long and unnecessary wait! She said that since the saimin special was cheap, there was nothing she could do. When I asked to speak to the manager, she told me that the manager is too busy with the dine in section to handle my issue. I insisted on speaking to the manager. After talking to the manager, and only after my suggestion on complimentary drinks for my 4 children and myself did we walk away with 2 small fresh saimin (dashi & noodles), 3 small soggy saimin (cold dashi & noodles), 4 small fruit punches, and 1 small Pepsi (with ice, even though I asked for NO ICE)! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this place! - Horrible customer service - Incompetent staff at the takeout window - And no doubt, the workers (Filipino ladies) talking sh*t about me. - The amount of food for the price is not worth it. I WOULD NOT PAY REGULAR PRICE for the saimin quantity and quality. - Unacceptable wait time for a takeout order. **I guess I got my $0.50 worth of Saimin and customer service with my order.**"

"The food wasn’t all that great. The service was horrible. The waitress keep on messing on the drinks and our food. We had a group of 7 people and didn’t get half of our orders right. One asked for no green onions but had green onions in his food and the receipt stated no green onions. My hubby’s shrimp tempura was more like battered shrimp and was not cooked so they took it back and got another one but then he said it was nasty and stopped eating it. It was a waste of money. He normally don’t let food go to waste but it was so nasty that he could not even eat it. He said it was nasty. The battered shrimp was small size but made it look bigger with more batter. My crispy gau gee was very small and had no flavor and the wonton also no flavor. The soup was more like salt. I paid cash in case they mess up on the credit card. I don’t think I will come back here again."
