The area is home to a variety of wildlife including wild turkey, bobwhite quail, white-tailed deer, waterfowl, and migrating bald eagles, pelicans, and ducks. Visitors should be aware that some poisonous snakes inhabit the area.

"Unfortunately the high water has rendered some of the sites unusable. We still had no trouble finding a spot in late March. The sites were large and the location is very scenic. We enjoyed our stay there. Only one negative-- one shower was broken."
