Marana Parks & Recreation

"First off I'm a Honea and anyone who knows the Honea's would know our family played a part the founding of Marana. Just look our name up in Marana.. Our family started the USPS mail route, first Sheriff was a Honea and a Honea has been a mayor for over the last 40 years just for a few things we have done around here. We have all tried to give back to our community in someway and mine is coaching and this last season I coached my sons football team and due to how I disciplined him on the field I was told by Jacob Jaeger, Wayne, Bob and Jim which are all authority figures in the town of Marana parks and rec that I was not a fit coach and too aggressive which was all based on heresy and I've never coached out of anger. The specific instance had to do with me and MY SON and him using bad language on the field and instead of embarrassing him in the group of kids I pulled MY SON to the side and made him do 10 push ups and sternly told him he will never talk like that in front of me or on a field again and due to his actions he will not play defense and only offense the rest of the game and any more bad attitude or language and he'll sit the rest of the game and the next game. And because I guided him by his jersey and singled him out aside from the other kids I'm not fit to coach. I'm a father first and coach second and that's my son and I needed to correct his actions as my son and a young man first then disciplined him as a player second, I never cuss at kids, scream at them, put my hands on them in an aggressive way. I'm stern, expect kids to do the little tasks I ask of them and I want them to win and have fun trying to win, winning is fun! But the "town of Marana" has become soft, weak and in my opinion is terrible for athletics and child development and is ok thinking kids can lose 64-0 for example and still think we need to coddle them and say it's ok hope you had fun getting crushed, losing in life is not fun for anyone and I'm sure we can all agree on that! Coaching is about teaching attitude and effort, helping these kids be good young people, be winners in life and more importantly how to bounce back when their losing and still keep a winning attitude and that's what I taught the kids. Im happy for them when they win, stern when they lose and correct actions to win and at the same time encourage them to not accept losing and to get back out there and strive to do better next time! If you have that same mentality as me do not come to marana or even bother living here or playing sports here. Due to the actions and how I was spoken to by some town of Marana employees and the fact I don't believe they have a heart for people or success or a winning attitude, we are leaving our family roots and our place in Honea heights. Hope everyone reads this and understands the person that initially made these accusations about me was Jacob Jaeger and he should not be in the position he is in and knows nothing of people, sports or Marana and Marana parks and rec backs a person like that! STAY AWAY FROM MARANA AND LIVE ANYWHERE ELSE AND DEFINITELY DONT SIGN UP FOR ANY MARANA SPORT OR YOU'LL HAVE REGRETS. This is all in my opinion and what I think but I promise I'm not the only one who feels like this I'm just the voice behind a lot more people who feel like me!"

"Staff here knocked it out of the park when it came to being host to the Majors Baseball Tournament this year. Park staff helped ensure the fields were looking good and all the amenities were available to those that came and participated. Shout out to Jacob and Andrew for assisting in the fields and to Scott cleaning up afterwards."
