H&R Block

"I’d like to start off by saying that if I was asked for feedback I would have shared it directly instead of writing a review online but they really didn't seem to care at all about their customer service. I had an appointment with them and arrived 15 minutes early. Right off the bat the lady that greeted me made me feel like I was a total inconvenience. She asked if I had an appointment. Looked at the computer for a while then asked me for my name and looked again. I was literally the only person there beside an older gentleman already being helped by someone. At no point was there any sort of pleasantries. She had me come back and her tone and questions made me feel really uncomfortable. First she asked me why I waited so long to file my taxes (2016), the question itself didn't bother me, just the way she asked it. Then she just blurted out that I wasnt going to get a refund because it was too late and I would be getting fines and penalties - all things I already knew but again the way she said it was very off-putting. After that she asked some questions and made some comments that made me feel like she was judging me based on my ethnicity. I looked at the reviews before I went but I thought this was just a simple tax filing no big deal. Totally wish I didn't waste my time. The customer service was just terrible. I bit my tongue, completed the drop-off and left. As I was driving away I kept thinking about how she made me feel. I turned my car around and called ahead to let them know that I didn't want to proceed and I was going to come back for my paperwork. The other lady in the office handed me my paperwork. For those considering going to this office. They sound super nice and pleasant over the phone but when you get there they don’t act like the ladies you interact with over the phone. I even overheard a convo between the other lady and an older gentleman doing his taxes… in my opinion, the interaction didn't sound nice. These people don't care about their business enough to ask why a customer decided not to proceed with their tax filing. There were 2 clear opportunities for them to ask why (over the phone/in person). So i’ll just say this… if they don't care enough about their business then what makes you think they would care about you."

"I am so upset right now. I called the H&R Block that's inside the neighborhood market on 51st and Olive. I had a few questions- I spoke with a nice lady Alma, she transferred me to Gary. He was very rude, barely answered my questions- rushed me off the phone- like I was wasting his time and he didn't have time to answer my questions. I got news for you, Gary............ That is your job. To answer questions and help and assist. If you don't like doing that- go work somewhere else. You have the worst customer service skills EVER! I would have rather waited on hold for 20 minutes than speak with you EVER again. Don't call this one call the other one on 51st and Olive. You might have to hold for a few minutes, but they are nice and helpful."
