Nancy Hagopian LMFT

"I have had nothing but great experiences with Nancy ever since I began seeing her over 3 years ago. She is a great listener, and isn't afraid to chime in an express her opinions. It makes my life a lot easier and I feel like she provides me a clear sense of correction. Nancy is experienced, and highly qualified at being a therapist, and the proof is in the results. My relationships with my significant other as well as members of my family are much better because of her. Although another patient has stated that her prognosis led to the deterioration of her marriage, I assure you that it is not due Nancy. The mere fact that the former patient asserted that she has ethical issues is laughable at the least, and foolish at the most. I can personally attest to Nancy's integrity and honesty. She is prompt, responsive, and good at following up which is something that it severely lacking in this profession. I could not be happier with her treatment, and will continue to see her in the future."

"I began seeing Nancy Hagopian with my now ex-husband for marital therapy several years ago. After a great many lackluster sessions in which I strived to find value—she, in the vein of Freud, emphasized our separate childhoods rather than our marriage—I lost patience and declined to employ her services further. Additionally , I didn’t find her particularly bright, insightful, or punctual as she often arrived for our appointments either exactly at the appointed hour or a few minutes later. I’ve had more than an average amount of experience with mental health professionals and I’ve learned that for talk therapy to be useful one should not be smarter than their therapist as it becomes easy to manipulate them and very difficult to glean anything of value from their training. This was my experience with Nancy Hagopian. I am also concerned that she kept my ex-husband on as a patient after I decided to end the marriage therapy we had initially hired her for. My board certified psychiatrist, for example, cited ethical concerns when asked if she would take my then-husband on as a patient. She gave me the impression that mental health providers recuse themselves from seeing patients whom they cannot treat objectively and without prejudice or are related to other patients. I have other concerns about Nancy Hagopian in regards to her methodology, pedagogy, and the “advice?” she gives but am unqualified to speak to its appropriateness or typicality. Yet, I would strongly caution against hiring her if: 1) You are seeking to preserve your marriage 2)Demand the utmost in professionalism 3) Are “gifted” or otherwise intellectually robust"
