Cornerstone Preschool

"I was hesitant whether I should post this review or not. Close people to me have their kids enrolled here and I was worried they will be treated differently after I shared my experience with Cornerstone. However, I have faith my review will knock down prideful walls of entitlement the staff have built, and soften their hearts in situations like mine to teach them a lesson of compassion and humility to accept when they make a mistake. I cannot speak for everyone who has their child enrolled here, others may be having a wonderful experience with no issues, but if you have a child that has food allergies, this may not be the best place for you. Their routine does not seem compatible for children with outside the box needs. I only want to bring to light my personal experience and the consequential lack of attention a few adults in charge had with my child, especially the director’s indifference when I discovered my 2-year-old had been given rotten soy milk that entire week. My toddler is allergic to dairy, so I was the one to provide the milk and I had dropped off fresh milk that Monday 11/27/23.That same week, my daughter had been very constipated, a teacher mentioned she barely wanted to eat, was not drinking much of her milk (very unusual for her) and didn’t want to nap a couple of those days. I had also noticed she started crying when I dropped her off that week, and she complained of tummy aches at home. The most concerning of all was how she guzzled her milk and devoured her banana that I would bring her every day after I picked her up. She appeared to be starving. I knew something was wrong. On Thursday 11/30/23, I sat with my kiddo to ensure she ate breakfast. I asked her to at least drink her milk, she had a sip and immediately spit it out. The milk in the cup had a thick bubbly consistency and the color was off. I took a sip, and it was rotten. I asked AJ (the cook) to show me the milk box, it was the same box of milk I had provided 3 weeks prior. I knew, because the new milk I had dropped off on Monday was a smaller box. The box AJ pulled out of the fridge was the bigger size. Everything made sense at that moment. The constipation, the tummy aches, not being able to nap, not wanting me to leave her there in the mornings, her starving demeanor after school, all of it. I asked AJ why she was still giving her the old milk after I dropped off new milk earlier that week, her explanation was in a defensive tone "It says on the box it doesn't expire until January". I had to explain to her that; once opened, most milk is fresh up to 10 days. It also states that on the box. No milk lasts 2 months fresh once opened. At that point It really worried me how they handle their perishables. The staff lacked the attention to notice why my toddler was not drinking the milk and acting different that whole week, they simply missed the consequential signs of a child in need. I decided to pull my daughter out of Cornerstone that same day, because of the shocking lack of accountability and sympathy on behalf of Ana, (the director) and her assistant, (Marietta) when I brought it to their attention to address a potentially harmful situation to the children in their care, if this was not prevented from happening again. They didn't show any compassion, shame, or care at all. In fact, they acted as if I was an inconvenience for being upset. Marietta’s unapologetic suggestion was “If you are not happy with her care here you can take her somewhere else”. Out of all the entitled adults involved, the only one who "apologized" was Ana, (only after calling her out for not apologizing once, and informing her that I was pulling my daughter out of their care, due to their heartless indifference). She insincerely said, "I'm sorry" - once. No sympathy, no shame, nothing else. She did not take responsibility for her staff, offer an explanation, or show any compassion. The entire situation was unapologetically handled with nothing but entitlement. What a shame they are so-called "Yuma's Best"."

"My oldest and youngest both attended Cornerstone. Both enjoyed their time at the school. The staff is very loving and attentive to all the children."
