Promontory Apartment Homes 60 West Stone Loop, Tucson, AZ 85704

"I helped my mom move in to Promontory, Tucson. Upon moving in, I asked the front desk about the security (as there were previous concerns about cars being broken into from homeless based on reviews). I was verbally assured over the phone that safety was increasing due to heightened efforts and funding. For example, they were building a gate in front of parking/entrance of property (yet it is not installed to date- one statement of falsity from the front office). Issue #1 We have filed 2 separate police reports for 2 separate burglary/break-ins to car (see image) within the same month. Incident report from apartment complex for incident #1 was never received (front desk assured it was but I checked- not received); incident report for incident #2 was received upon insistent phone discussions. After incident report #2 has occurred, we filed both incident reports to assure these 2 separate incidents are heard by corporate. Receipt of these incident reports being sent to corporate are pending (not received by us yet). We don't know if the apartment complex wants to keep this "quiet" or not- but they surely don't provide any assurances for improvement of security in the future. Upon asking where my mom should park, no good faith efforts were given to try to help the situation- they just wanted to follow formal procedure and that's that. Because of this, there doesn't seem to be a good faith effort to improve the tenants' well-being or safety even in the event of 2 burglaries/break-ins. After all, they have jobs to protect. This is the vibe we are receiving from management. If management handled this differently, we wouldn't be having this perspective. #2 The gate of the property, near my mom's door, is always propped by a rock- and never closed. She has a key to use to open this gate, but is not locked shut (due to said rock(s)). This gate is near where she parks and had 2 separate break-ins- this leaves any reasonable tenant to believe that a break-in to the apartment is equally as possible with easy access to the apartment. Note: there are lights, but no cameras- the only reason not to have cameras is a) they don't have a capable security team, and/or b) they don't want to spend money on such security aspects of the property. Upon move-in of my mom, personally I am led to believe I was given a [verbal] false account of safety for the complex, and my mom doesn't feel safe here. Sadly, the place is otherwise very nice, but the management is becoming a strong issue with statements of falsity and incongruity of promises. Issue #3 The amenities (pool+Jacuzzi) has been down for months- they are addressing the issue in email and verbally, but it is not known exactly when amenities will be turned on. These issues are being monitored by us to see how management addresses and fixes the issues. Update, March 8, 2024, 4:40pm: After this review and phone calls made, Management called us and has offered my mom to break the lease at no cost to her- we found this an amicable resolution, and my mom will act accordingly. Details pending."

"During my one-year tenancy, I received a 60-day notice of non-renewal due to extensive apartment renovations and subsequent rent increases. To continue residing there, I would have had to pay an additional $400 on top of the existing $900 rent for a 415-square-foot apartment with a malfunctioning stove and a leaking central air conditioning unit. Many of my neighbors faced similar circumstances, essentially coercing us to either vacate or accept significantly higher rental rates. Notably, the majority of these apartments ranged from 400 to 450 square feet. Furthermore, the management demonstrated a lack of commitment to tenant safety. Car break-ins occurred frequently, causing constant anxiety about the security of my vehicle. Gates were consistently left open, and homeless individuals freely roamed the grounds and utilized the pools. Approximately half of the laundry machines were out of order, and the pool was perpetually closed. These conditions rendered the living environment chaotic and unsafe. I strongly advise against renting at this complex due to the unpleasant experience and the disparity between the rental prices and the quality of the accommodations provided."

"Loved my time here, quick turn around with work orders, clean common areas, gym is pretty good, laundry room never had any issues, other than the homeless be wondering around near the gas station it was amazing."

"3 year tenant. Management extremely stingy. Homeless and car theft not been dealt with ever. Also half of the amenities, (such as the pools, laundry room, and "under construction" for the last half a year the dog park and pickleball courts), rent has only gone up. You get less for the more you pay here. Stay away. Half of the laundry washing and drying machines do not work. "Managers" care more about a bird feeder hanging from the balcony more than they care about anything else. STAY AWAY!!!!!"

"I'm just going to copy and paste what I put on my move out survey. The laundry rooms have constantly broken machines, when you report it to the company that runs it they do nothing. We never had a pleasant interaction with the office staff, it's clear they don't want you to bother them. Did not stick to scheduled things like our move out inspection, instead agreed to set dates and then just gave us a 48 hour notice of entry, would you enjoy that at your home? There was constantly talks of putting a gate in so people's personal items/cars/catalytic converters would stop getting stolen, we know they promised it to people who were moving in and yet during our residency there was no gate. Overall this apartment complex along with the rude, demeaning and uncaring staff is the epitomy of "land lord special". Nothing like finding bugs that have been painted over in your "luxury apartments". The maintenance staff would also make quite inappropriate comments and jokes to my girlfriend when completing maintenance tasks if I was not in the residence. You'll note that in one review in Google someone mentioned that the property manager, Angela, told them that "her job is not customer service" and she certainly acts like it. To say the office staff is openly hostile would be an under statement. Ultimately I feel terrible for the poor people that have to work under her. I will actively do my best to dissuade anyone I ever can from renting at these apartments, as well as this company if they actively hire such awful staff. You could not pay me to stay at these apartments or rent any properties owned by this company again."
