"I started coming a little over a month ago and honestly, it's been a blast. Originally, I joined to get out of the house and focus on my health and to become a better person not only for myself but for my family. I had done some MMA in college, but that was a previous life, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I walked in the door. What I have found here at the AKKA Organization was what I was looking for and so much more. The instructors are patient, caring, supportive, and want you to succeed. The other students are equally as caring. Whether I was reviewing self-defense techniques with the adults, or practicing movement drills with the juniors, this place ignites a fire in you that makes you not only want to succeed, but to see others succeed as well. I'm only just getting started, but I couldn't think of any other place that I would want to train at."
"We signed our 4 year old up to try karate at AKKA Independence in hopes of finding something that he'd enjoy doing, but would also help boost his confidence and help with his self discipline. We found this and more! Our son is loving karate and at the same time is becoming more confident in his own voice. He's also learning how to listen and respect boundaries more. Mr. Burt and Mr. Harris are both awesome instructors who take the time to make sure that you have all your questions answered, before you even think of them. They're also soo kind, while still being firm enough to make sure your child is learning and having fun at the same time. AKKA Independence just doesn't focus on individuals either, they check in with your family, because they care about how everyone is doing. You take your child to learn karate, but gain a tribe as well."

My daughter is on the autism spectrum and Mr. Burt and Mr. Harris are really great they treat her well like all the other people in class.
