"I visited a client at DeSmet Retirement Community in the past week and I must say this place is very nice. Upon arrival, there's a secured entry door where you must call the resident in order to be buzzed in during the evenings and weekends. During the day, a staff member is at the front desk and requires that all guests sign in and out. Walking the hallway was a joy seeing all the cute decorated doors with wreaths. There was a big dining room with a very nice stage on the first floor. It's a great space for the community to hold an event. My clients apartment was nice and cozy just big enough for her to enjoy. Hers was a one bedroom apartment with doorways big enough to accommodate a wheelchair. My client let me know that the Staff had been nice and very helpful since she's been there. My client stated that she has met many other residents and enjoys the community activities. I did take a photo of last months activity calendar. Do check it out. Overall, this was a nice retirement community that also features assisted living for those who may need extra assistance. The building is wheelchair accessible with a huge parking lot. "My father has been a resident at DeSmet for a year now. In that time he has blossomed. Gone are his hermit-like ways. He's made tons of friends and loves all the staff, especially Melanie. Recently my father ended up in the hospital and Melanie didn't hesitate to drop what she was doing to come and check in on him. She has stayed in close contact with me during this time as well, making sure my father is progressing and offering help with whatever we need. I would definitely recommend this community to anyone looking for a safe, warm, and loving environment for their loved ones or themselves."

"Had a great time today at the senior Fair. IT was really nice to spend some time getting to know some of the local communities, DeSmet stuck out to me the girls there were so interactive and fun. Way to go ladies! I'll be setting up a tour right away."

"Desmet is a great place for those who are independent . The apartment set up's are nice. There are activities and outings for the residents to participate in . The building is safe and secure. However, when selecting a facility and or a home for your love ones please be aware that Desmet provides no patient care and very little assistance to its residence. This is not a skilled nursing facility.It's also very different from most assisted-living facilities .If your love ones require any type of assistance this is NOT the best place for them."
