"Dr. Wang is my second opinion. Wish I didn't have too but I did. I can only say so so so happy with her in regards to knowledge and caring down to earth. She has taken care of me and honestly her preliminary testing was way more thorough than my initial RA doc. Highly recommend!! I also love the office staff."

"Such a terrible place to go. I love dr wang and her nurses, but the office staff is absolutely terrible. My first complaint is that they moved buildings and didn’t change their answering machine, so I drive 2 hours to KC for this appointment and their old office is empty. I didn’t get an address for the new office and when I called their phone system, it said they were closed. We rescheduled my appointment and I came back to KC for another and they tried to cancel that one once I was there. My second complaint: they put in a new policy in 2021 sometime that when you go, you have to put a credit card on file and pay $140 before they bill anything to insurance. I had to use my credit card because I wasn’t expecting to dish out that payment. My deductible was hit by the time they finally got around to billing the insurance and I had closed that credit card account. Now they’ve refunded me money to the closed credit card (because my deductible was hit) and didn’t give me any warning so now I have to go through the credit card company to get my money. Will never ever go here again or recommend it to anyone."

"This review has nothing to do with Shirley Wang or anyone in the back doing labs or assisting as I would give them all 5 stars. Office gets 3 stars purely from the front office staff and how they handle patients, money, and scheduling. If I were to rate the front office staff I would honestly give them 1 star and 2 on a good day. You almost always have to leave a voicemail which is frequently not responded to which then requires a second follow up call the next day. From what I have seen while in office they pretty much have one person working phones, check-in, and most of the time check out and she is the only one good while speaking with patients. One sits right in the entry and won’t make eye contact as you come through even if other receptionist is busy to quickly and simply at least check you in. Then back office is rude and they have the most absurd financial policy. I signed the financial policy believing it was standard as you sign with all doctor offices stating if you miss an appointment with no notice you will be charged and you agree to pay what insurance does not cover yadda yadda. No. This financial policy supposedly states that they can automatically take payment from card on file within 10 DAYS of receiving a bill. 10 DAYS!! That doesn’t even cover a normal pay period. Not everyone has money just laying around to be able to fork out over $100 in 10 days. I have worked in many doctor offices and that is NEVER part of a financial agreement nor is it even legal to do! We then called the actual office that handles payments which is apparently not in office and they even stated how they were not aware of this and that should not be happening....no joke it shouldn’t be happening! Honestly considering finding a new office but still trying to weigh whether seeing Shirley and all medical personnel in back is worth putting up with the terrible front office because I truly do appreciate the doctor but when you can barely ever get through to even speak or try to clarify things when it comes to health and it takes days to get an answer it becomes frustrating. Also, when you already have so many medical bills out there while in the process of figuring all issues out prior to landing here and then having to be in such a rigid and unrealistic financial policy definitely makes you second guess all your decisions of staying with Empower Rheumatology."

"Dr. Wang is no ordinary physician. I've worked beside her and her team for almost a year now and I have nothing but good things to say about them! Dr. Wang is literally a ray of sunshine! I always see a smile on her face and I can hear her (from my work station) greeting each patient in a such cheerful way, that it just brings a smile to my face. She brings joy wherever she goes and truly cares for her patients wellbeing. She is so dedicated to her work and her patients, that I often see her doing the work of what an assistant would normally do. She takes the time to make sure her patients are taken care of. But also, she truly cares about her staff and wants to care for them as well. If you're in search for a great doctor, there is no need to look further. Dr. Wang is the one you want. She and her staff will take great care of you and will go above and beyond to make sure that you feel comfortable and cared for."

"Empower is located within Mid-America Poly Clinic at the corner end of the strip mall located at Metcalf and College Blvd. When you enter, there is a separate check in line specifically for Dr. Wang. This is a large and bustling place, with on-site imaging available, but no lab. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Wang. She's very knowledgeable, she listens, and you can tell she really enjoys deciphering the puzzles that auto-immune arthritis can pose. It takes a while to get an appointment, but that's the case with any good rheumatologist. They also use a portal interface to upload all your records and communications. This has been especially helpful considering the large and strange words that I want to research, but can neither spell nor pronounce."
