"The store is clean and organized. The items are good but nothing will compare to the staff that “works” there. Their only interest in posting on social media. During my time, no one said Hi or even offered a smile. For the mission to be helping women in very vulnerable situations. Its an extreme lie. Their attitude is disgusting. Very cold & unhelpful people."

"I had new and very gently used women’s clothes, coats and shoes to donate to a place in need in Joplin. 90% of my stuff had never been worn. I was not donating junk. I called second chance twice to confirm what they took and what they needed the most. The 2 girls I spoke to were not professional and not appreciated of my potential donations at all. The second girl I spoke with was not even listening to me, she was talking to someone else and laughing right into the phone. Now she may have been talking to a customer but all she could have done was to say I’m sorry I can’t talk to you right now I’m w a customer! But she sounded young and so many young kids now have no idea how to properly communicate verbally as they text etc. I’m not mad. Second chances serves our community well and all the proceeds go back to layfette house. Wonderful. I’m just disappointed and do not feel good about donating my items. Pretty sad. I am no stranger to underserved people, homeless, abused, poor. I’m in healthcare and my entire career was serving underserved women. I get it. I also know how hard it is to find consistent and good volunteers. It so hard. I’m not trying to get accolades, I just want to donate my items to a place that can be somewhat gracious and that need women’s clothes etc especially plus size. The only place I have called that was gracious was Souls Harbor so I will be donating 6 bags of women’s and men’s clothes to them plus blankets and bedding. I feel it will be put to good use. Thank you."

"Clean store. Well organized. 3 star rating for a lot of over priced items. Staff not warm like previous staff. Not a lot of items offered like before. Previous store was my go to. Unfortunately not the new store. Hopefully management will make some adjustments."

"Very clean and organized thrift store in the heart of Joplin. Lots of women's clothing, shoes and toys, but they do have housewares, books and jewelry. I wish they had a larger store and more stock for men, but I understand inventory is determined by donations. Please support the Lafayette House by making a purchase from Second Chances! God bless!!!"
